PostSubject: Roof rack swap?   Sat Jul 19, 2014 7:08 pm

So I have the two cross members for the roof rack on my 94RMW but I don't have the little knobs the screw them down. I think I actually gave them back to the previous owner because I found a bag of his belongings in it and I think I remember seeing those in that bag. So I'm wondering if there is any replacement or alternatives to using the knobs. Has anyone found a different knob that works or maybe something from a Home Depot or a hardware store that has little knobs that could work. If nobly has any ideas I could try contacting the previous owner and see if he has them around still. Also I recently for a Caprice wagon in a local junk yard and it had both cross members on it but they were a different style of roof rack.

So is there any alternatives to the knobs or should I contact the previous owner? And can the caprice roof rack work on my 94 RMW without to much modifying?

The caprice cross bars do not work on Roadys as they are wider. The knobs can be purchased from a hardware store. They are a plastic star knob with sort stubby threaded stems. There is a flat square disc with points at the corners that the knobs thread into. As you tighten, the discs grab the underside of the travel rail.

^^^what he said. Also, Lexus RX300 SUVs use the exact same racks if you see one in the JY.
