What is a fair price for this wagon? Empty
PostSubject: What is a fair price for this wagon?   What is a fair price for this wagon? Icon_minitimeFri Aug 29, 2014 11:50 am

My buddy sent me a local ad for a '95 RMW with 80k miles. I have a really clean '94 RMW that has a (very) few cosmetic issues and runs great, but has high miles. I need another wagon like a hole in the head, but I am looking for an older car to replace my every day 2012 Focus, which I hate so much i can't describe how much I hate it. The problem is, I think he is high on the price but maybe I'm wrong. I'd like input.

It's a dark red wood delete car (good) with a red leather interior (I don't much like but it looks super clean). Has the cheezy fake wire wheels. I thought it was a tow-pak car because it has a mechanical fan but the ad says it has 2.56 gears. Is that possible? Ad also says it has a non-retractable antennae and a manual passenger side mirror. My car has everything except heated seats and I thought they all came pretty loaded.

So, considering the mileage, if the car is as good as it looks in the pix, what would be a fair price? Also, is it still possible to get the specs of a car online by putting in the VIN number? I'm going to look at it because it's close enough to where I live that it's convenient.

Thanks. I'll be interested in your input.

There's a similar one on Ebay right now. Keep an eye on it and it'll tell you what the one you're looking at is worth.

Ebay '95 RMW no wood

How do you know it's rust free? The photographer either carefully hid every possible rust spot or is just clueless as to where these cars rust. The three spots of uncoated metal I could see under the hood are far from mint and there's something goofy with the spare tire well in the RRquarter pic.

Lol. The car I was asking about is the same car as the ebay car. I went to the dealership today strictly out of curiousity and it has already been sold to a local buyer. It went for $7800. I would have liked to have inspected it but I don't think I would have bought it for that money. Certainly not without an up close and personal inspection. I did note in the photos that the rear stainless trim looked askew on both sides and that made me wonder if it had been hit in the rear. If it really had the 2.56 gear ratio that would have made it much less attractive to me. I dunno, but at least I know what a nice wagon has the potential to bring. Right on about Maryland cars. They love salt here. My 94 RMW is almost pristine underneath and everywhere else but I don't know how that happened because I am the third owner and it has always been a Maryland car. It came to me with two very aggressive snow tires on steel rims but it's hard to believe it ever saw salt. The only problem is the old guy who was the second owner must have backed into something because the spare tire well was pushed up to the point where the drain hole wasn't anywhere near on the bottom and I drained about 2 gallons of rusty water out of it and sure enough there is some rust in the bottom of it. I almost cried when I saw that. OTOH, it is cosmetically really nice with the exception of the usual door panels and fake wood issues. Everything works and it goes like stink at 180,000+ miles. I have never regretted buying it and it would be hard to justify getting another, no matter how good. I'm thinking I might buy an older Crown Vic or Grand Marquis for my daily commuter. Not nearly as good as a Roadmaster but the parts situation is much better. I have test driven some late model cars lately and they are nice but I could buy a lot of gas for the price difference. Anyhow, that was interesting ...
