So my 94 Buick is giving me this issue for the second time... Both on cold, wet days... The first time I just took another car, but this second time I've got nowhere to be... So I figured I'd do some digging... Very few clues... Can smell unburnt fuel... Having some fumes coming back out the intake. No MIL or codes... The low oil and change oil lights come on after an unsuccessful start... I'm just lost... Maybe it's the ignition module? Maybe a stuck low oil sensor?

The coil would be a good place to start. Do you have an extra to try? If it will run spray some salt water on it and see if it arcs or stumbles.

I have the factory coil.... Somewhere... I replaced it and the Opti when I had my water pump go bad... I wish I could find the thing... Found the trashed pump... Found the old opti... Bah. I just hope it fires tomorrow morning. Do you some WD or wire dry would be a safe gamble? What about the oil level sensor? Anyone had a problem with them?

And... There it is... Went out... Turned the key crank crank crank... Sprayed my icm and coil with the wire dryer I found... Gave it a second and then gave her a turn... Fired right up... So I guess it's time for a coil. Suggestions? OE?

The MSD coil works well,.a stock 96 coil is good,.

If it were me,. i,d change the coil wire first,..... Wink

Ok. The coil is an Accel coil and the coil wire is an MSD wire... If that makes a lick of difference... I don't need anything special out of my coil... I replaced it because I got a deal. I'll spend some more time looking today and see what I can dig up. Thanks for the input

The Accel is a good piece as well. If it is not that old I would contact them to see it they would warranty it.

Have someone crank it for you when its dark,. take a squirt bottle with some water, dampen everything down,.
Look for sparks,.

Thanks. I think I'm at the point now of ripping it out and breaking out the old trusty multimeter. If I can find some bad ohm readings maybe I'll shoot Accel an email. The MSD unit is 4 dollars more than an AC Delco... So they're really on a pretty equal field there.
