that holds the gas filler neck in place,..

The orange wagon was bought with some small damage drivers side rear quarter, from a tire that shredded at some point,.it broke piece out of the plastic surround that holds the gas tank filler neck in place,.and the plastic inner liner?

we are using the orange wagon as a daily driver,. and the rear tire is now throwing winter pooh, through the broken piece all into the recess where the gas cap is,.

Has anyone ever changed one of these?

Looks like the neck has to be removed from the gas tank?

I replaced the one on my Caprice. Mad
Yes, the filler neck has to come out. There is a short flex hose between the tank and the filler neck and a vent hose adjacent to it. Both have to be disconnected so you can snake the filler neck down out of the quarter.

I had to loosen the tank straps and drop the tank a couple of inches. I couldn't disconnect the flex hose from the fuel tank with the tank in the installed position.

Had to drain the fuel tank, too.

There are about 6 or 7 screws holding it between the filler neck and the body. I am not sure if you have to remove the filler neck to get it out. I changed one while the tank was down, but not with the tank in place. There is also a wheelhouse extension panel that is bolted in behind the rear wheel. If it is missing, you will get a lot of pooh (as you described it) in that area as well. There should be 5 tabs located around the area to hold the panel. A disintegrating tire can tear the panel out, and if you did not know it was supposed to be there, you might not notice its absence.

Thank you Fred,.you.ve got a lot more experience dismantling these wagons than i ever have,.
I honestly haven't paid much attention to underneath back there sort of thing, (eyes forward , foot down)
I didn't know about the extension,.and looking thru the hole by the gas cap, it must be gone because i,m looking right at the back tire,.

I do have a parts wagon, but the high winds have drifted snow all around the thing,. time to go get the backhoe and dig it out and lift it up,.

I hope i don;t have to drop the tank Joe,.. Crying or Very sad

Sounds like it is one of the jobs that is a pita, even in warm weather,.

all good idea's,. we might be following the empty sour cream container style,.OR the winning idea at the moment is to just leave the filler neck standing by itself,. i took the broken plastic thingy out,.so no broken basket to catch winter pooh,.

I,m heading west tomorrow for logging again,. so it'll have to wait till warmer weather,.

She has the fancy ford, the old diesel 4x4, and as a last resort the geluz wagon,
