PostSubject: Black 1995 Caprice Wagon   Wed Mar 11, 2015 9:34 pm

I just got back from deployment and decided to part with my wife's 1995 Chevrolet Caprice Classic Wagon. Black, no wood.  Gray cloth interior, 69000 miles.  NON tow pack.  2.56 gears and electric fans.   Car has a PCM tune for regular fuel to optimize 2.56 gear shift pattern for trans longevity.

I bought this from a fellow forum member, Adam.  This is a former garage kept funeral home car.  Great condition.  No rust, runs and drives perfectly.  A/C blows cold and strong.  Power locks/windows/mirrors.

Previous owner did brakes and battery in 2012.  New passenger side inner fender.  New AC delco 140 Amp alternator.  New water pump.  Gary's upgraded battery cables.  Moog CC623 rear coilsprings.  Koni adjustable rear shocks (set to match CC623 coilsprings).  The air ride compressor works if you were inclined to set up airbags or go back to air leveling shocks (you won't want to with the Konis).   the car will come with Cragar soft 8 15" wheels and 225/75R15 tires from 2012.  They have maybe 7k miles on them.  The stock steel wheels had seen better days, and it needed all new tires when I bought it.

The bad:
- windshield has a professionally repaired chip.
- small ding in the hood from stone.
- Front bumper is scuffed on passenger corner.
- Roof has some scratching, probably from the 1st owner's use of the roof rack.

$  7000 US

The wagon is located in Comox, BC, Canada (which is on Vancouver Island). This is a US car that I imported to Canada.  It will be incredibly easy to re-import back to the US.  There is no duty, just the regular tax you would pay for an out of state purchase.  I am willing to help out with logistics.  I can pick you up at the Comox, Vancouver or Bellingham, WA airports.  Willing to drive it all the way to Portland, OR for a confirmed buyer.

Possiblity of selling OZ Nova wheels with the car.   These are not the ones that were offered with the GP.  They are 8" front and 10" rear.  Tires up front are Goodyear F1 supercar in 245/45R18 up front and 285/40ZR18 rear.  Under 200 miles on the tires.  Looking for an extra $1200 for the wheels and tires.

Hopefully this thread can stay on track and not degenerate into a request for pics from the undercarriage by people who have no intention of buying it/In the south, there is no rust/back in my day you could get a candy bar for a nickel/I would so buy it if only ______/Would you sell some random part off your car type deals.   That being said, if someone is seriously contemplating purchasing the vehicle and is interested in pics of a specific area, I'd be more than happy to snap some up for you.

Got a few PMs from members from ISSF, but no sale. It would be great if the car could go to someone on this forum.

I have a LOT of parts for mods I could sell at a really good price to someone who buys this car.

Someone broke into the car this week. Not that I was expecting anyone to buy it, but it is no longer for sale, at least until I finalize my claim with the insurance company.

Passenger vent window was broken.

Pretty ironic that the reason I wanted to sell it to reduce the amount of time spent on maintaining cars.

Mulling over this over the last few weeks...

I have to go to the East Coast for sims in the 1st week of Sept. I was planning on doing a roadtrip (in the wagon) down to SoCal in the last week of Aug. I could change destinations for someone who is a serious buyer. Willing to drive anywhere on the West Coast, down to San Diego OR the North East.

1) buyer pays full asking price;
2) substantial deposit is left to ensure I don't drive down for nothing; and
3) buyer drops me and my wife off at an international airport and covers the cost of ONE return ticket, economy class (say max $500). You can either just pay or use your frequent flyer miles or whatever if you want to save.

Cheaper than shipping the car, and car will be brought through the border for you. All you need to do is bring it to a port of entry in your area.

If one of the guys from the North East is interested, wife and I will go see our folks in La Belle Province afterwards.

PM me ASAP if interested. This is obviously a time-sensitive offer, as it requires a lot of planning on my part, and coordination for flights through work for me.

Please note that I still have not had a chance to replace the PS vent window as I have been away, and I'm still arguing with the insurance co about the value of the window. Slap in a window/hinge and you're good to go.

The offer to drive the car is no longer available seeing as I already took my leave to go SoCal.

Finally came to a reasonable agreement with the insurance co, so I guess I'll get it fixed during the fall.

Since the car got broken into, I put in:
-tinted vent window;
-2 new pioneer 4x6 speakers in the front;
-2 new Clarion 6x9 in the back and put in some packing foam around them;
-Alpine head unit (CD/MP3/AUX)
-all new window rollers in the front while the panels were off.

I bought a roll of fabric to do the headliner but haven't had a chance to do it.

If someone is interested in the car, I can do $6500 before I redo the headliner, and you get the roll of material to do it yourself.

FWIW the title of the car isn't affected by the broken window.

Yes, I still have it.  I'm dropping grey cloth roadmaster limited seats in it this afternoon.

just so it's clear, the car is no longer $6500 US, since:
a) the exchange rate is much worse (for me); and
b) the car has been completely repaired following the vandalism claim.  The $6500 cost was predicated on me cashing out the claim and the person buying it as is.

I'm not actively trying to sell the car at this time, but you can PM me if you're interested.

PostSubject: update   Tue Jun 14, 2016 6:00 am

As I posted in the members only subsection, I am moving back to the East Coast this summer.  Being that the caprice is my wife's car and that she doesn't want to drive a RWD car in the winter in Qc, she wants another daily driver.  She has asked me to sell the wagon.  I will be driving the wagon out to Quebec in Aug, so if any members are interested, we could meet at any of the borders from Eastern Ontario or Quebec, thus making it easier for the East Coast members than picking it up on the West Coast.

update:
The car now has 71k miles.
AIR pump delete
Alpine Deck CDA-9813.  Has AUX input but no bluetooth.   I wired it to the AUX batt post with 10 gauge wire, per the instructions.  This is a fairly powerful deck at 4x27W RMS.
New speakers front and back
New headliner
Grey cloth Roadmaster Sedan seats.  100x better than the stock caprice seats
Repainted roof (no more scratches on the roof)
Dynamat over every square inch of the floor and roof.
POR-15 on the parts of the floor that showed surface rust.
Resealed every wellnut and rivnut with roofing sealer prior to the dynamat and headliner going back on.
Powerwashed the carpet while it was out.

A few pics of the work:

Found a leak at the weatherstripping when I pulled the carpet. Now fixed.

Don't worry, I completely wirewheeled the rust and prepped the surface exactly per the POR-15 instructions. I just didn't take intermediate photos.

Asking $7500.  Available on the West Coast until Aug, then East Coast.  If the car doesn't sell, I may keep it as my DD and just get her a different car.

OZ Nova rims still available with the car for $1200.  Haven't put them on this year. I also have a set of SS wheels and brand new winter tires I could sell with the caprice.

Hey Jason,

We connected here on this forum back when I first joined and you had just acquired this car from the funeral home in Rochester. I spotted the car then but didn't jump at it because it was too far from me at the time. I've not been on this forum since and just spotted this thread. First, nice job on the floor/carpeting and seats! Sucks someone broke into it, but look how much better the wagon turned out as a result. Wink

Looks like I may have just missed you (and this wagon again). Have you already left for the East Coast/sold the wagon?

Yup, you just missed it. Not sold, but it is now back on the East Coast.

I'm going to pick up a Pontiac Vibe for my wife to drive. It's still still sort of a wagon, I guess.

If anyone attending WagonFest (NY) is interested in buying the caprice, I can deliver the car there. No need for the buyer to come to Canada, which is a plus if you don't have a passport.

check it out here  to see what's been done to it since.

Car has 83k miles. Just put changed the opti for a Delco last week. Did the opti and waterpump seals as well so you should be good for a while. I put in a new AC Delco coil wire about 2 months ago.

Since arriving in Qc, in the fall:

- 3.73 gears and Truetrac
- New Front control arms/spindle with 5/8" Balljoint (required new ABS sensors, too)
- alignment
- New front rotors (ATE) and HAWK pads
- New 700# coilsprings, new isolators
- ZQ8 bumpstops
- New koni shocks
- PPM front end kit (1 million mile warranty)
- hotchkis swaybar
- SLP headers w/ AIR and EGR delete
- new NGK pltinum plugs and AC Delco wires
- block heater install
- Valvesprings, valvestem seals
- Comp ultra pro-magnum 1.6 ratio roller rockers, self-aligning
- PCM tune
- 140A AC delco alternator

$7999

I just bought a 2013 CTS wagon (3.6l AWD) as a DD while I'm in Qc and I want to sell the Caprice before winter.

photobucket is blocking the pics but if someone is interested I can send some.  When I get a chance I'll see if I can transfer the pics to another site.

Caprice has 88k miles.  Runs great.  Car currently in the Montreal/Ottawa Corridor.  I could bring it to Massena/Ogdensburg for a confirmed buyer.  Does NOT include the T84s I just put on.

ISSF FS post with all info consolidated

If you're using Chrome, just google "photobucket embed extension", that should give you a working link. It was originally written for Chrome.
