I have to make a choice, keep the 178,000 mile 93 Caprice wagon and pass on my grandmother's 72,000 mile 2000 Grand Caravan that just got new tires or buy the Grand Caravan and know I'm just driving a box on wheels that will be dependable but boring. If I go with logic then the 93 Caprice gets sold and I can get something more fun than the minivan when my finances recover from being unemployed for several years while helping take care of my grandmother. Gotta go with the logic!

Asking price is $3000, just to put a nice round number on it.

The 93 Caprice is a 350 TBI motor with 3.23 posi rear gear and a towing package that has never had a hitch on it. I picked it up at a good price but have been throwing money into it to get it to dependable driver status. Still has a slight stumble when in parking lots going from no throttle to very little throttle but drives great when on the street and no longer jerks/bucks from a stop after putting an O2 sensor on it.

This is a rust free California car (treated surface rust in a couple small places where paint chipped off) that needs paint due to clearcoat peeling, front tires due to tiny cracking in tread area, and various plastic pieces have cracks so should be replaced. I haven't had the car long enough to really shake it out and have not ever been afraid to just get in and go but only drive short distances in town right now, couple of 35 mile test drives with no problems on freeway. Has one large dent on passenger quarter panel from lower moulding to just above spare tire well and various small things here and there. The passenger side has been painted before but driver side is original. Car sat for awhile before I got it so consider that before serious driving it should get tires, brakes, and an A/C seal/recharge.

Wagon is light blue over blue cloth and pics are in the garage on 'station wagon forums' if anyone is interested. My email is peavey7 at hotmail.com or you can just pm me here on the site. Ebay "completed sales" may still have the detailed pics from the auction where I got the car back in October 2014.

I am sorry about your loss.

The bad news is: you're going to be one of those guys on here saying "I wish I never sold my wagon."

The good news is:  The GCaravans are not as awful to drive as I though they would be.  I didn't find it comfortable, but it did perform adequately as far as power and such (I hated the ABS & Traction control, but that's just me).

And, hard as it is to say, you're probably making the right choice.  Dependable and fun as the wagons are, they are 20+ years old.  So if it is your only transportation and money is tight, the hard choice may be the right one, for now.
Just find it a good home. Sad

I'm sure you'll find another wagon when you are ready.

Working on a way to keep the wagon and drive the minivan. It involves family so is a crapshoot. Minivan belonged to my grandmother who passed last month but was titled and registered in my uncle's name for simplicities sake the last couple of years and now gets split between my uncle and my mom if they stay friendly. My mom doesn't drive and is usually in a wheelchair when she goes places and I can cart her around in either wagon or minivan but the minivan has working A/C while the wagon does not. I think the minivan will be staying around for the summer temps unless my uncle wants to drive his sister around to various doctor appts and what not in his Forester. The wheels in my head are turning and I may only have to pay the insurance bill to keep the van around for the summer, manageable.
