Hood Latch Cable - Adjustment

The cable on my hood latch seems to have stretched. Is there a way to adjust the stopper on the end? It's about an inch too long now and makes for a real PITA when I go to open the hood.

The cable sheath end at the release handle may have jumped out of the mount.

If that is not it, you could put a sleeve over the cable.

Most likely jumped out on the handle end.
I have used a washer to make my cable a tiny bit shorter, but an inch means something isn't right!

Mark,make sure everything is properly lubricated.I thought the cable on my OCC was stretched but after a thorough wire brushing and then I sprayed the hinge with some lithium grease,it works perfect!
