Just received my vanity tag today. Most of the good ones were taken Crying or Very sad , but considering this wagon is a '94 with the LT1 and the tow package.......It'll be even more obvious once the hitch is installed.

Without the hitch ,.  the plate might be misconstrued as a comment on the reliability of an LT1,..Smile Surprised

My '96 Roadmaster needs a replacement distributor. Have had one sitting in the box for almost a year. It is like the occasional slow to start episodes were just that, occasional. Now she acts like she's running on 7 cylinders. At least the Caprice is running just fine.

I actually had a brand new 2006 Tundra xtra cab SR5 V8 2 wd before I bought the Roadmaster in 2008. Had a vanity tag for that one too, it read........TUN OFUN.

My Roadmaster with the tow pack and a class III hitch pulled some pretty heavy loads, the heavest was a 1999 Grand Prix coupe on a tow dolly approx. 650 miles one way. Figure total was close to 4000 lbs. Had progressive springs for towing and air shocks (not the original shocks).
No mods to tranny.

The '94 Caprice wagon I now have will only have a class I hitch as I'm only going to tow my open 4x8' utility trailer.

My 9C1 was the previous owner's tow vehicle, however I did not get the hitch in the deal. this trip was from SC back to NH loaded.  Smile  It's lowered too.   Laughing

I am thinking about air bags and severe duty shocks. I found bags with a lifetime guarantee. A compressor with a small tank behind storage compartment. This instead of air shocks. I've gotten different opinions on the 4L60E's suitability for towing. I've thought about an "underdrive" replacing the tailpiece on the tranny giving a 3.66 ratio at the rear end. The load would be on the rear end instead of tranny.

The previous owner of my 9C1 installed Sprint springs in the rear and Moog 5662s up front. When towing he would put a set of Airlift 1000 bags in the rear springs and pump them up to bring the rear back up after loading the tongue.

I don't know about the underdrive bit, usually when towing with an overdrive transmission the best advice is to not use overdrive.

If the 4L60 is in good shape and has had regular service, it's perfectly fine to pull a reasonable load. I like to add an over sized tans pan and an auxiliary trans cooler as part of the tow hitch installation. If your handy adding a shift kit wont hurt either.

I like air bags over air shocks...but both will get the job done.

I have used my 95 Caprice Wagon to pull an 18 foot open car hauler with a 87 Chev 1 ton 4x4 on deck. Pulled it from AZ to Ontario Canada without incident. I prefer to use my Wagon as a tow rig over the 1 ton pick up.
