I'm throwing around the Idea of making a camper out of a RMW after seeing a tear drop camper trailer. Don't know
if I'll ever have the time, but I'm trying to figure out a cool (different) way to have a camper, just a place for 2
adults to sleep, and be able to carry a bunch of camping stuff, like a lg. tent for the kids. Has anyone done/seen this
done to a RMW, Caprice wagon, or OCC? Am I crazy?
For example....

I have had a similiar thought. I would cut a vista roof, a roof (ruph) rack (rax), trim and wood the sides and paint her DGGM. Modify a set of Impala wheels and install them. How cool would that look!!!!

The car conversion would work as well. But it does not pop up. The value of standing up in the camper is HUGE. I camp out of a tent for years. Changing your closes is difficult at best if you cannot stand up!!

But you FIRST need to CAMP!!!!! City boy!!!!

umm, last time I checked two adults CAN sleep in the back. just lock up the bikes to the front bumper

Howzabout doing a tent deal that hooks up to the back of the wagon opening like they have for SUVs, etc - where the wagon becomes an extra room of a decently sized tent.


Another little engineering nugget that shouldn't go overlooked - if you're going to unhook it from the hitch, you should have some kind of
"legs" at the rear so that you don't tip the nose up when you sit on the tailgate. It's be especially easy as hell if there was any kind of hitch already back there.

Neat idea. I'd try to build one if I thought someone would buy it.

GM actually engineered a factory tent for the back of the Pontiac Aztec. It even improved the appearance a bit.

Yea, that's what made me think of it - then I rembered seeing the tents in a JC Whitney catalog that look like they're almost done giving birth to an SUV and went with that pic instead.

I think it would be cool. Actually, if you made a B-body trailer and adapted an suv tent to the back that would be awesome!

I am 99% sure I am going for this ,now that I have your Buiick to use for work.

This wagon was the very first one I saw on the internet,and I was in love.I now know it is a Buick,but having never owned one I wasn't aware of the rear glass differences.





Mine will be red, actually almost burgandy at the rear. Opposite to this one. My Chrome SS wheels will look similar. My roof will remain black tho.




This also gives me the option to two tone the Bonnies.

Who needs a custom trailer/camper when you can buy this!!
