I can't say I'm anywhere near as experienced as most of this site, so I try to step lightly and learn as much as I can.

Being 26 years old, I don't remember much during the time our wagons were built and with them being rarer cars as minivans and SUVs were most of the rage of the time. I've been into cars my whole life, the story goes that my first word was "truck" and when I was two I managed to take all the door latch strikers in the house when I managed to get ahold of a screwdriver.  As I got older I would start turning wrenches with my grandfather on his old trucks and antique tractors he would restore. When I was looking for my first car in my teens, I considered finding a wagon, they were still cheap then, but being from Ohio the clean ones were still few and far between.  I went off to college and through those years had a Cavalier coupe, stripped out, no option model that was okay on fuel and served me well as a student.  During college I had bought and S10 that I'd planned to V8 swap and tune the suspension to harass anything on the road and race either in the autox cones or on the drag strip.  Not long after I earned my college degree I got into an accident trying to not hold up traffic with a nearly dead 2.2 4 cylinder.

It was then after losing my S10, I decided that it was time for a wagon to replace the void in my life.  I spent a long time looking coast to coast through classified ads until I found what I wanted.  A clean 1992 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser, 5.7l V8, towing package equipped, Posi-trac rear end and preferably a cloth interior.  I've had the car for a year now, had to put a starter in it and have fixed a few odds and ends but haven't had the time or money to do much other than drive it, or use it as a daily driver for a little while.

And now for what you really want, wagonporn:

Yeah, it's got a Caprice front bumper and I'd like to change that some day I dig the N97 (9C1) wheels, I just need to get an Olds Rocket decal to go over the Bowtie. It's a wheel cover car and I do have the wheel covers. Those pics are from Saturday, I went to George Rogers Clark park, really close to me for the shots, with a cellphone.  I did some video work in college and video is what photographers want to do when they grow up.

I cleaned up the interior, it's in good shape, just a few minor details and it was really dusty when I got it, along with a good amount of dog hair too. It hasn't really been abused, but I can tell its been used for hauling by some stains, but nothing is smashed or torn.

It's a great cruiser, great on the highway and I get a lot of positive feedback on it. Driving it puts a smile on my face and getting a wagon was one of the best things I've ever done.

Nice ride.  I hope you'll be able to make it to WagonFest this year.  I remember that I made fun of these cars when they were new.  Too soon old, too late wise.

I need to double check dates, but WFNY is looking pretty likely. Daytona is most likely not going to happen, I've just started a new job and while I'm currently a temp it's got some long term potential. On the plus side, my application to take my Nursing Home Administrator's exams was approved, so I'm making sure I've got the money ready to spend on the tests and my first year license, It might happen faster if I get offered a job and/or I decide to raid my HSA and pay the 20% on my taxes next year. Any accountants here? Could I replace the money and still not have to be taxed?

I saw a pretty neat Caprice wagon locally, had a good red and black flat paint job from what I could tell from a distance. Weather is supposed to start to get really nice and I'm looking forward to driving this thing more. Finally figured out what I plan on doing to fix my roof rack rub strip holes and am thinking about some new weather stripping too.

Cool story, thanks for sharing. Adam Haack is the guy who did my olds stickers that I had on my impala rim center caps. Was something like $15 for 4 of them....

July 23 currently looks clear right now, I know that's close to my tradition of going up to Cleveland for an Indians game around my birthday, need to check with him and make sure that's not a game he wants to go to. I really enjoy driving this car, I ran errands in it the other day and brought my sheltie with me for the ride. Gotta get to studying, have a job offer that's only good if I pass some tests this week and get my NHA license and I really want money for wagon maintenance and mods!
