| Hey guys,. Just looking for a little help. I have a 96 Roadmaster wagon in excellent shape. AC has been working fine then today I started having an issue. I turned the temp up from 60 to 70 this morning because it was a little chilly at 4 am. Later I put the AC back down to 60 and its cool but not cold. Then I tried turning the heat all the way up and it gets "warm" but not hot. The AC system is working though because the compressor is coming on and the "aluminum canister" is ice cold and has condensation. Any suggestions? | |

| Hi Gary
You may have two problems, neither one of them real bad. Your heater core may need to be flushed, flush it one way then the other. Your AC just may need a charge. I think that would take care of the problems.

| Ok I will look into that. It was just weird to me that it was fine then when I turned the heat on now its not. Its like the temperature setting is stuck warm. Like something isn't opening or closing all the way if that makes sense | |

| Sounds like a possible mix door problem. You can dump the AC control parameters to check for commanded and actual mix door position. If they don't match, the system has no control over the delivered temperature from the ducts. Sometimes it just needs a calibration, but more often is an actuator or link problem. Do you have an FSM? | |

Yes, that has worked for me before too....back in the day I kept thinking it was a clogged heater core. But it was not.

| Thanks guys. I did do the reset and it is switching between heat and AC like it should. The heat is super hot so it turns out I just wasn't giving it time to heat up...lol Sorry However the AC is still a problem. when I 1st turn it on it feels like its working but just not as cold as it should be. As soon as I start to drive though it isn't cool anymore at all and its like I just have the vent on. So I think it probably just needs a recharge. Have any of you used the recharge kits you can buy at the auto parts store before? Seems like it should be pretty easy to do. | |

Yes. I bought a kit today to recharge it myself and on the gauges it read it should have been fine. Im giving up and taking it to a shop on Friday. It is definitely working and cooler than just having the vent on but isn't getting cold enough at all. Everything appears to be working so I'm just confused on what the problem could be

Did you check the mix door operation?
