Not really sure what a fead is, but the F body LT1 crank hub is a different length than the B body LT1 crank hub. The serpentine belt does not line up.

| ""Front end accessory drive""
If that is the harmonic balancer with the serpentine belt driver, they are the same. It is the hubs that are different. On the Fluidampr the hub and the balancer are one piece.

If that is the harmonic balancer with the serpentine belt driver, they are the same. It is the hubs that are different. On the Fluidampr the hub and the balancer are one piece. The term "FEAD" refers to the entire engine accessory assembly, to include the driven components: AC, Alternator, PS pump & water pump, all sheaves, and their associated mounting brackets. The LT1 F & Y body use a hub that is approximately 9/16" shorter than a B body, but the damper portion shares the same offset for all three. As you are seeing, unlike the factory or many aftermarket choices, the Fluidampr's one piece construction isn't going to permit juggling hub lengths to obtain a proper fit. - J

Thanks JaySS.
There are some really talented folks on this site. I was trying to see if someone had come up with a solution not thought of.

| Ok,. i,m just too simple minded i guess,. using a F body hub would solve the problem?
or is it more complicated than that,.

or is it more complicated than that,. Kind of, didn’t plan on getting this deep into what would be needed to enable the conversion, but now we’re here: The LT1 damper in question: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]And, there _was_ some over-simplification about what chassis uses what parts using information from the JEG’s webpage: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Actually, the Corvette damper pushes the belt grooves further forward than even the B-body spacing. ATI’s page has the various component hub & shells called out so you can see how things go together: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]There are some old threads on the ISSF (most pre-crash, so the photos are gone). This proposal was to enable use of the factory Corvette damper assembly by spacing the accessories forward: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Most (if not all) LT1 underdrive kits insert the smaller pulley between the hub and damper to maintain the belt spacing. 95wagon pulled the factory damper back with use of a F-body hub, then modified a March pulley sized to underdrive the accessories in front of the existing damper. By spacing the accessories forward as was done in the post above, he was able to keep the damper close to the crankshaft: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]This would be about the only way to use the F-body Fluidampr in the B-body application. - J

| Thanks for the write-up, JaySS. Lots of interesting info here. Apparently, where there is a will, there is a way. | |
