Coolant bleeder valve Empty
PostSubject: Coolant bleeder valve   Coolant bleeder valve Icon_minitimeSat Mar 11, 2017 7:37 am

I read the sticky titled, Beginner's Guide to Making Your B Body Faster. I have a question about installing a ball valve in place of the bleeder screw on the t-stat housing. In the fall I drained and filled the cooling system and really didn't like the mess from the coolant dripping over the opti during the bleeding procedure. I had rags stuffed everywhere but it was still quite a mess and a lot seeped through the rags and onto the opti.

I have not been able to find a ball valve. Searching online has proven to be rather difficult and I'm not sure why. I saw a post somewhere that after some time, which I don't remember but it seemed like a short amount of time, the ball valve was ruined and would not open. Are people still doing this mod? If so, where do you find a ball valve that will hold up over time?

Thanks.

I did something similar using a couple bucks worth of fittings from Home Depot. Worked perfectly.

What valve did you use? I couldn't find any 1/8" valves at Home Depot.

Don't remember the numbers cause it was nearly a decade ago, lol.

It wasn't a valve like you see people selling. Just a simple drain valve. It was a little tall but cleared everything and got the job done Smile
