Tried stretching out the Roadmonster's legs.
Engine power cut out at 110mph.
Is this normal?

You didn't want to be going over 110mph on white-wall Uniroyal Tiger Paws that these came with, so yes, governed at the factory.

it's actually 108mph where it cuts off. Mike is correct it was set as a function of the S rated tires spec'd for the car (112mph). The Impalas had V rated tires (150 mph) and gets capped off around 132 I think. The police cars had no speed limiter and I do know the Michigan SP tested one Caprice wagon with two cops fully dressed at 138 mph...

Fuel cutoff. No real reason to take a stock one past that.

Really,. ?? I think you need to examine your own talents and capabilities closely,. then pass comments regarding other peoples talents or wants,.

Since when has any one needed a real reason to go faster than the factory settings on any piece of machinery,,

I will also say that i have had plenty of B body's over 130+ moh,. No big deal,

I don't think there are more than small number of people on this forum who have been past130 mph,and an even smaller number that have gone over 150mph,. and those that haven't are always the first to say it shouldn't be done.

And if you would like to know, yes i have gone over 140 with 235-75-15's
It becomes mostly about shocks rather than tires, and until you have personally done it , your opinions mean nothing to me.

I've done 150+ mph, but never in a B-body (not yet, anyway). Nowhere did I say it shouldn't be done. I still stand by my statement that there's no real (practical) reason to do so in a stock wagon, likely on stock suspension, on a public road.

But think what you want - you're going to anyway. Smile

I'm not surprised that they are governed at 108mph. I had mine up to around 85-90 the other day and I was floating all over the road. Granted mine probably has the original suspension still. But I've been 135mph in a smaller Lincoln LS V8 and it was smooth and very nimble. It was also 20 years newer. I think I'll have to agree with Phantom that itreally depends on suspension. However, I would hope someone has some really good brakes if they're going that fast in these wagons. Surprisingly, my truck stops faster. But it takes waaayyy longer to get up to speed. Haha. I'm personally going to cruise in my wagon around 75- mph just to be on the safe side.

I help keep the employees at Summit Racing earning paychecks by changing my mind or destroying engine and transmission parts. It's part of my civic duty to help keep them off welfare.
