What have you loaded into your wagon?

Just wanted to see what everyone has loaded into their cars.  

Yesterday I loaded 850 lbs in the trunk (load of concrete pavers) also had 2 full size humans and a tiny human plus whatever else lives in the car. She was feeling a little heavy.

The tail pipes(which I have already cut some off of) did scrape a little pulling into the driveway.

Regrettably I don't have any pics of the pavers but I think we need pics of junk in the trunk so here's a pic from last fall.



What kind of junk is in your trunk?

Fun idea for a thread. While I have since started using vans because of volume I still use my wagons for my bakery business selling bread at markets and fairs.

I used to take the long way home just to pass the Butter-Crust Bread factory. I'll bet your wagon smells delicious!!

I can't find the pics but I put a fully assembled 24u server rack in the wagon. Took up almost the whole back with the seats down.

The most impressive thing I put in any of my wagons was probably when I put a 1954 GE refrigerator in my OCC. The heaviest though, was probably the lumber I used to build my porch. The auto-level did it's job though. The lumber yard guys were shocked.

That shirt IS pretty cool!  Two summers ago, my friend DD'd me and 7 of my friends barhopping around town in my wagon for my bachelor party!  At one point in time there were 10 total for a stop, it was pretty ridiculous...  Grown men laying across laps and such  Damn good thing we didn't leave town too, because the front tire blew out on the highway two days later!(old tires that I bought her with)  
Anyway, I decided after that night that I couldn't possibly have just one wagon

I don't have any pictures of it, but by far my favorite thing to load into my Roady wagon is 4 x 8 sheet goods; dry wall, plywood, whatever. In the past I had a Mercury Mountaineer, and have used my brother's Range Rover. Both are huge vehicles, and both damaged the goods. Not the Roady. In fact, the rolling carts at Home Depot are the exact same height as the lowered tail gate. Stuff just slides right across into the cargo area. Why aren't all SUV's made like that? And, I just thought of this- in the last 2 weeks I've gotten 80 bags of mulch for my yard in Pittsburgh, 20 at a time with no sweat. Long live the Roady!

I,ve carried a complete engine and transmission a couple of times in the old gold run of the mill rusty roadie,..

I once crammed 33 bags of mulch in the caprice.

In the RMW, I put in a gun safe (not overly heavy, maybe 250 lb), and once loaded an old bank safe from 1912. Pretty sure it's reinforced with concrete. It took 4 movers to bring it into my basement, and they said it's never leaving there. I loaded into the wagon with lever and a home made ramp. The car sagged all the way home. The safe used to belong to my great uncle, whose dad was a dentist and stored his old-timey drugs, mercury and gold in there.

Sheets of 4x8 plywood, mulch, fishing gear, niece and nephews, wood pallets, coolers, concrete bags, gas cans, fruit baskets, automotive batteries, dogs, beer. One nice thing about the wagon is I can lay down and not have to be at a weird angle in the back. My mother has said I might make her a grandmother in that car.

800 square feet of 3/4" maple tongue and groove flooring, a compressor, nail gun, miter saw, and ibuprofen.

That stuff gets heavy, last time I hauled a lot of flooring, it was trailered.

Some wood for a railing and playhouse repair.

Mostly music equipment...but I also worked for a window washer company for a bit and one of my wagons was my official vehicle. Lol  

But mainly my music equipment and IKEA boxes and chairs / cooler to car shows.  

Heaviest thing ever: a 1975 Oldsmobile 455. It's like a heart patient carrying their own donor transplant.

Heaviest load in the Estate Wagon has been 16 sheets of 5/8" drywall, joint compound, drywall screws, tape and 3 full-size adult males. Thank goodness for auto-levelling!

Ah, server racks. Here's a 52U rack in my wagon. It consumed the entire cargo area and I had to take 2 of the casters off to get the hatch to close, but it fit.





Also the Harbor Freight 42" tool box set, that fit too despite the guy there telling me it wouldn't.

I've hauled loads of 80 lb bags of concrete,sand, large amounts of grass sod, mulch, weed n' feed, transmissions, differentials, sheets of plywood, my 1927 tall ten Fry gasoline pump, an industrial stainless corner sink, countless home improvement materials, hardwood flooring, tiling, mortar, steel tubing,angle,channel,rod,plate, softener salt, wood burning pellets, carloads of parts. This is what comes to mind right away. Overall, based on cost, comfort, utility, looks, parts availibilty, ease of maintenance, mileage, unique appearance, best car I've ever owned

What is likely a quarter century ago I had a Pacer wagon. I was enrolled in a very small college, of about 500 students, and there were no less than three Pacers on campus which at over 1/2 of one percent no doubt made it one of the highest Pacer to student ratios in the nation. I needed roofing shingles and was warned, "That's an old car...I'm not so sure." "Nonsense," I replied, "There is plenty of room!" Soon they were loaded into the car and on their way to their now home. However, in doing so I managed to break four of the five leafs of the rear passenger side spring.

So I order a new set and a week later I'm installing them. I've got the car jacked up, but being a dumb kid I didn't think to bother with jack stands or even wheel chocks. The wheel is off and my legs are under the car as I sit pounding on a drift punch trying to knock the bolt out of the front of the spring. I happen to glance at the jack just as it started to sink into the backtop. I was quick enough to leap to my feet, get behind the car, and jam my knee under the back bumper just as the jack sank into the driveway and tipped over. At that point in my life, I was strong enough to keep the car balanced on three wheels. I was not, however, strong enough to hold the car up with my left hand as I mounted the tire with my right. So I quickly formed Plan B, and that was nothing less than to carefully set the car down. (This went just the same as had I planned to slam it down as hard as I could.) But I got the car jacked up again, this time with a piece of plywood under the jack, and with the car on jackstands, soon the springs replaced and I was on may way. What soon became evident was that in the repair process, the rear axle was no longer perpendicular to the frame. The car pulled very hard to the right and the tires would chirp when turning left.

Soon a diabolical plan was forming. My roommates took great delight in making fun of my car (it was a Pacer, after all.) "Allright," I said, "You always make fun of it, but you have no idea what that car is really like." With a 258 inline 6, and quite a bit of frontal area, a rocket it was not, but, with a misaligned rear axle, as long as I was certain to do donuts only in a counter clockwise direction, shock and awe were all but guaranteed. Never mind I never exceeded 15 mph, three stupid kids each with their own stupid grin, as this little bubble of a car turned her dryrotted 14's into smoke and black streaks on an empty parking lot.

We exited the vehicle in a cloud of smoke and and the stench of burned rubber. They never spoke disparagingly of my car again. To this day, I suspect my three passengers may still be under the very false illusion that the Pacer is some kind of underrated supercar.

Thats just plain abuse of a B-body.

I do not have pictures, but I have had about a half of a B-body in the back of mine. I took a filled to the brim load to The Turkey Run (Thanksgiving) about 5-6 years ago. There was not enough sales vs. cost, to justify continuing, but some of you may remember the spread of parts around the car. I have also had a tailgate, both front seats and a wheelhouse stuffed in there, with plenty of space left over. On occasion 4 tires and wheels, and my toolboxes. Other times anything from doors to hoods, fenders, and I used to transport my train set to shows. I had a complete wagon rear, and a bunch of other stuff in there for about a month.

Well, about 60 bags of topsoil is the limit for the cargo area with the middle seats down...

Spotted a 60's bedroom set at an antique shop at a price I couldn't refuse. The staff wanted to know when we'd be sending a truck. "No need" I said

Nope - The stock setup is gone and has been replaced with HD shocks/springs, so it did ok. But steep driveways will bottom it out with this load...

Technically not in the car, but the wagons do make for good tow cars as well... (this E32 BMW did not survive - It got stripped of all parts & crushed)

First thing I noticed,was that MCM.

Found a bunch of lawnboys. Plus 2 kids and 2 adults

Used two of my wagons to haul an entire IKEA kitchen home. Both filled to the brim (11K worth of cabinets and crap). Did have to make a 2nd trip for the appliances though.

350 square feet of tile, mastic, etc. Car was bottomed out in the rear (load leveler was shot).
Figured it was about 1400 lbs.

Regularly holds 2-4 surfboards INSIDE along with passengers.

Since the car is a paperweight it hasn't been hauling anything but was a work bench when I put new window seals on the truck.
