I removed the secondary air pump yesterday. I got everything out except the pipe that runs under the engine and back up. It appears that the pipe is fastened under the a/c compressor. I could sort of see one of the compressor mounting bolts. I assume there is at least one more. I could not find the removal procedure for the a/c compressor in the FSM. Can I just unbolt the compressor and move it slightly to get the pipe's mounting tab out from behind it? I saw the youtube video of the guy removing the air pump but he doesn't go into detail on what he did to free up that pipe.

Also, as expected I got the P0412 DTC, secondary air injection switching valve a circuit. I'm going to see if anyone locally can program the air pump out.

I am also getting two other codes now. I had 0 codes prior to removing the air pump.

P0335 - crankshaft position sensor A circuit
P0336 - crankshaft position sensor A circuit range/performance

There was some sort of electronic part attached to the air pump pipe. There is an elbow at the bottom that looks like it had a hose attached but the hose is long gone. I assumed that was part of the air pump system. Did I remove something I should not have or is it just coincidence?

The air pump is "deleted" if you just unplug it. I removed all of the equipment on my SS, though, much more space. The tube that goes across the front is just about impossible to remove in one piece. Just cut it under the balancer and take it out in two pieces.. No AC removal needed. Don't forget the plugs for the manifolds.

Yes, you need it programmed. Unfortunately, the codes you now have have nothing to do with the air pump. I think you've unplugged the crankshaft position sensor from the timing cover.

""Just cut it under the balancer and take it out in two pieces."

This is actually the FSM described procedure for repairs on the AIR system. The FSM says splice the cut with hose.

The pump relay is driven by an output from the PCM. There is no code set if the output does nothing. Just unplug the connector.

Jay is right about the codes you posted. They have nothing to do with the AIR system.

The crankshaft position sensor plug was disconnected. I have no idea why I did that and don't remember doing it.

My pipe is definitely fastened behind the a/c compressor. Is that possibly a difference between years? It's extremely tight to try and get a wrench up in there. I didn't get a really good look from up top yet.
