PostSubject: Slim powered subwoofer   Slim powered subwoofer Icon_minitimeSun May 07, 2017 5:45 pm

Has anyone used one of the slim powered subwoofers that can be installed under seats and in tight places? I got out and measured under my driver and passenger seats and there isn't really that much room under there. On the driver side I measured about 8-3/4" wide (between the seat track) and about 10" deep (front to back) and maybe 4"-5" high. Just wondering if anyone has used one of these to add some bass to the stock radio. I don't want to give up cargo space and would prefer to not give up the driver side storage bin. I was also wondering if I could mount it to the back of the second row seat in some sort of semi-removable fashion for when I need to transport things like drywall and lumber. The connections on the unit I linked below would be easy enough to remove, most of them use connectors then it's just three screws for the power, ground and remote on. What I can't figure out is some sort of quick disconnect to the back of the seat. I can get wing screws but they have machine threads not screw threads. Anyone know what the seat back material is? Any other ideas?

I bought a Boss brand one from Wal Mart online. Very small. Attached some Velcro to it(just the hook side ) allows me to keep it in the cargo area, but easily moved if I need to

So i was thinking about yhe whole slim sub idea too. What i have come up wit is a couple of things. 1. Ithink your better off with an 8 inch powered slim sub, for there dimensions are better. So the two companys i was looking at are pioneer and kenwood. Bothe have nice units under $145. If ones not enough u can put two. One under both seats. The other idea i been thinking about is that u dont get a powered unit. Then i beleave u can get away with a slim 10 under one seat with a custom box. Then you can get either a mono block amp under the other seat or get a 5 channel amp and power your sub and speakers. Then u still got your cargo space.

If you want to build your own, Bose made a very slim (1" thick) subwoofer that was mounted in the rear deck of late 90's / early 2000s Cadillacs. You can get them cheap out of junkyards.
