Heater hose rubbing on pulley Empty
PostSubject: Heater hose rubbing on pulley   Heater hose rubbing on pulley Icon_minitimeFri Jun 16, 2017 1:53 pm

I found out yesterday that my heater hose was rubbing on the pulley near it. I don't see any other way to route it so I tied it up with zip ties. I only have flimsy ones on hand so if the solution is that it just needs to be tied back then I'll get better ones. I did have the water pump off recently so it is possible that I didn't put something back where it belongs. Is this hpw it should be?

There's pretty little clearance there. I used a velcro strap on my car to hold the heater hose away from the pulley like you did there with the zip tie. The strap is wider and so doesn't bite into the rubber.

It turned out that the fitting on the water pump moves. I was able to move it up a little which gave me at least double the clearance I had. I got a heavy duty zip tie on the hose so all looks good now.

Is the heater hose fitting on the water pump supposed to move at all? It also looks like it's not in completely straight. It has not leaked in the past several months that its been installed.

I had same problem after replacing water pump. Seems the tubes on the newer ones have a slightly different bend to them. I ended up using the tube from the old water pump which had the correct bend and eliminated the problem.

Thanks. It's helpful to know someone else experienced the same issue.
