Folks - I did some looking around and didn't find anything- is there a blueprinting guide to the 94-96 LT1 motors, or a book I can buy that would have the same?

I have the Mike Mavrigan books and they don't have a complete set of blueprinting data. For instance I think the deck height factory spec is 9.025 but can't find a trusted source to verify that (and other things)

Blueprint Engines has poisoned the search results so badly, it's hard to find anything other than links to their rebuilds.

What about:

Yep, I have that book too. Between that, the Mavrigan LT1/LT4 book and the service manual you of course have a complete set of rebuild specs, but not quite the same thing as you would get with a blueprint guide as you can find for a SBC or BBC motor.

I was asking more out of curiosity than anything else. My guess now would be that a SBC blueprint spec would apply basically equally to the LT1. It ended up not being a big deal though as the block I pulled from the car is actually straight and well-dimensioned. It didn't require any machine work beyond a simple rebore to fit the oversize pistons.

It would have been interesting to know what the intended engineering spec of the LT1 block was to compare to how the real-world example I have in my hands, but I don't think it'll matter very much.

I've read the LT1 blocks are pretty decent and stout, so hearing about yours being in good condition is awesome news. I've never done a rebuild on a car engine, only motorcycle top ends, so I can't pretend to know much about them. I'm nearing the time to put a fresh motor in my wagon and have a donor Impala motor and Camaro heads to mess around with, so I guess I'll be learning soon. I was going to drop the motor off at the machine shop and go from there.

The process isn't hard but having access to someone (and a shop) that's done hundreds of builds certainly helps a lot. The two blocks I've stripped down both are dimensionally quite good. One of the hardest things was finding a machine shop and waiting to get the block back.

Blueprinting an engine is for the most part recording every dimension of every part that could wear. That gives you a "blueprint" of the engine so you can build one just like it.
