PostSubject: New transmission lines - Summit AN fittings and braided lines   Tue 11 Jan 2011 - 20:00

I bought some Summit fittings several months back and finally decided to assemble them. John (mtrhead79) had some experience with AN fittings so I asked him to help. I think we did a fair job. We will see when I get a chance to mount them and see if they leak.

First John cut the soft lines from the hard lines.

Removed burs in the inside

Filed the outside smooth

Sanded to new clean metal

Put the old line into the new fittings

Compress it (note rag in vice to keep from damaging fitting)

Cut hose to length using brick cutter

Put fitting on hose
-oil inner fitting prior to install
-protect fitting from vice
-use aluminum wrench or tape up wrench/fitting
Note - put tape on hose at the back of the fitting to be sure it does not "walk" out of the fitting

Assemble had and soft lines

Pretty cool... But aren't the replacement lines cheaper than what it cost for the AN fittings, braided line, and AN tools?

Let us know how it works out. I did something similar, but used industrial equipment instead of racing equipment. I must have screwed up somehow, because some of the fittings are seeping oil or tranny fluid.
