Madness cant really describe our feelings towards these wagons.I mean when someone has 4
wagons and is looking at another that can be called -------------------------------------------
perfectly normal.I see nothing wrong with owning 5 wagons unless you are thinking about
adding a Subaru to the collection!

Hey Mike,

I love the passion you guys have for the cars. I've definitely been bitten.

The name Vixenpilot comes from another old car I own. It's a 1968 TVR Vixen S1.
It's a very interesting hand built British car with a tube frame chassis and fiberglass body with a 1600 crossflow Ford engine. I can post pictures if you like. I also have a 1963 Austin Healey Sprite vintage racer.

I've restored and enjoyed old cars since I was able to. Too bad I'm not smart enough to make a living at it!

Love to see the pics, and I'll Google your TVR. I remember the slope-nose TVR sports cars in the 80's, but not before that. Will cehck it out.

The Sprite sounds cool too. I had a neighbor in Denver that had a little blue Sprite in his garage. It was about your's age I think, not a Bugeye but the model after that. Bone stock, it was a neat car.

Neat looking body design, but what had you so hung up on THAT one to bring it back from being so far gone?

I don't think I could fit in it if I had to.

TVR Vixen were some quick little cars due to their very low weight.The coupe design and the
Sunbeam Alpine coupe were 2 of my favorite brit cars along with my absolute favorite the
XKE coupe series 1.When I was a kid I collected all of the dealer brochures starting in 65 and
up.Would be worth some money today if I had kept them.When my 65 Alpine was running
it was a blast to drive around with the top down and the tonneau cover on.I always thought that driving with the tonneau cover on made it look like one of the factory race cars.Use to
have TTs (time trials) here at our Air Force base every summer and we always went as kids.
Those were the days.Great memories too.

There was only 117 Series one Vixens built. I wasn't looking for one and never thought I'd own one. I only paid 500.00 for it which is another reason! It still is very rough but it runs and drives well now, a ton of fun. Rare but not valuable though.

This is the first Vixen that I have seen that is left hand drive.I guess that all of the ones I saw
were soldiers cars.Are those Dunlop wire wheels and did you have them rechromed?The wires
on my Alpine were beautiful but I never could get them to stay true.I have some great memories of cool summer evening rides with my girlfriend.Her Momma would only let her
ride with me as long as I stayed off the main roads which was just fine with me.Drriving that
car meant when she called home to tell her Mom we had broke down it was always the truth.
I know that if I somehow managed to get in that car today I would be stuck for a while.

And that TVR is pretty damn cool, too.

I own the Austin Powers trilogy, and I've watched them all at least once - and I don't recall any part of any of them that pointed out that British people in the 1960's were midgets.

WHY for the love of all things COMFY and ROOMY, would a society of full sized adults repeatedly design/build/buy/sell HALF SCALE CARS??!!

I think it's cool stuff, since everybody knows that go-carts are fun. And I swear that I'm not that big really, just big enough that I don't think I could comfortably get in, drive, or get out of a car that small - and that's with me driving a cavalier as a daily.

I'd me like the limerick about the guy from Boston who drove a wee little Austin.

Also, Crovo stole that hood from someone local to him out of a wheeler dealer.

I like the TVR be I don't think I could fit through the door opening! Ha!

Hey Vixen those hardtops are pretty rare themselves,did you race with them inplace or did
you go full convertible with the extra rollbar reinforcement?Beautiful british cars and no
matter how open the exhaust and built up the engine,at full song you are still not going
real fast are you?But the grin says it all dont it?

Jim,

The top on the blue car is a works speed equipment part. I got lucky happening upon it. The red top again was an accidental find. I don't know who made it. I raced with the tops on as they would have in europe in the day. In the U.S. in the day they would have run with no top or windshield, just a deflector. I tried that and didn't enjoy getting hit with rocks and rubber!

Vixen I am still LMAO at your video.Were you doing that for the camera or just really throwing
(I mean heavy emphasis on THROWING) it into the corners?In order to get the Sprite sideways
you almost have to jerk the steering wheel dont you?Great video and I watched the other one

Jim,

The skinny street tires don't provide a ton of high(er) speed grip. I want to experience the car as would have been raced in the day. Bias plies cost more than racing tires these days.
Bias plies would have given me the forgiving tell I'm looking for. Cheap skinny steel belts is what my budget allows. When you go into a corner too fast something's going to happen.
Since that corner on that weekend I've gotten to know what the car will do. It wasn't show for the camera...but it was and is fun and scary as hell!!!!!!

My "Big" Healey handles in a similar fashion. They were DESIGNED for oversteer.
It doesn't take much pedal to get the back end out. I'm running 165s which is pretty close to a stock width.

I like the hardtops. Especially the one where I keep looking for Suzanne Sommers, lol.
