My local car club was notified officially that we are going to evicted from this location.

Five years ago when we started at this location we had permission from the businesses to park up to 30 OLD cars in their lot. This past weekend we did a rough count and are up to 100 or more vehicles. It's an awesome event but now it looks like we're in trouble.

One of the business owners talked with us, telling us we needed to leave, he said he was fine with the old cars but didn't want all the new ones (rowdy teenagers in rice-rockets) taking up parking. Of course we can't control who shows up so it looks like we all will be leaving.

The businesses are talking with owner of the location and a attorney to see what the legal process is, so don't be surprised to see the police coming around to run everyone out in the next couple of weeks.

.......rats.......

Evil or Very Mad

There is still a good cruise-in at Cabela's way down in South Austin, but that's a haul from where I live.

Will be on the looking for a new north location.... Grrrr.....

Akways a few who screw things up for everybody.Same thing with some theatres refusing to show
the latest "Fast & Furious 5" because of the way the kids tear up the parking areas. One place
had kids doing donuts and drag racing in the parking lot.
I was plenty roudy as a kid but I NEVER tore up anyones property. Some of todays youth have
absolutely no concept of what "Respect" really means.
IMHO

One of the local club members is blaming the closing not just on ricers but on all the newer cars. He's saying it should just be for older cars. 20-years and older...

I really loved the "bring what you got" aspect of the cruise-in. While I have a 67 GTO in my garage, it's a LONG way from cruise-worthy, and I enjoy putting my LT1 '96 Roadmaster wagon, 77 Buick and 88 Cutlass in the show. None are really "classics", but I get positive comments on those cars and it's frankly just fun to be in the show.

I'm not a big fan of ricers or lowriders, and understand the concerns of the local business owners, but hate to single anyone out. And as a huge car nut in general I enjoy seeing the new Corvettes, Mustangs, Challengers, Camaros and such at the show. If you love cars and can afford the payments, more power to you and pull up a chair.

As for the teenagers, if they are just there to blast music and peel out, then yes, that's not why we're here, but if they have a real interest in cars then I welcome them. With all the tree-hugging car-hating liberal people out there now, this hobby is in a lot of danger of going away if we alienate the kids.

I really enjoy showing off my toys to people of all ages, and as long as they are respectful of our cars and are there to enjoy them and not cause trouble, then any "car person" is fine with me.

One of my favorite things about living in this city is the large car-culture and come-as-you-are attitude. I saw that in our cruise-in and hope we can find a new home for it where everyone is still welcome.

So if you'd have shown up with a '91 OCC/RMW/Caprice, he'd have been cool with it? That's BS. A cruise is a cruise; hod rods, classics, modern fancy cars, whatever. At least you have that variety. Something for everyone makes an event attractive. My guess is it may have more to do with the number of cars and neighboring business getting pissed at all the traffic. I ran a club in HS, and when it got big, everyone else got pissed, and the sh|t hit the fan.
