Hi, I'm Eric from SE North Dakota. I've wanted a wagon for about ten years. I'm starting to see the end of a home remodeling project that has been going on forever, so I figured I needed to buy myself a present. In about a week I'm headed to Duluth, MN to look a 1994 Caprice Classic LT1. Price is right and he claims it is nearly rust free.
Hope to end up with a moderately customized wagon in a couple of years. I've got a lot to learn about wagons, but it looks like I've found the right spot.
If anyone has any advice pro or con on the 94 Caprice, PLEASE let me know.
Thanks,
Eric

Welcome aboard, Eric! Good luck in your search! Very Happy

And don't worry, there's plenty of tech savvy guys here, and we have no problem helping to spend other people's money, either! Smile

Welcome to the group and I have a question. Why not a rust free wagon instead of a nearly
rust free wagon.Texas Mike can find some real jewels with absolutely no rust and for the same
money. He can find it and you fly down and drive it home.

This wagon may indeed be rust free, I just don't want to be overly optimistic. It was owned by a mortuary in southern Minnesota (so likely driven little and washed all the time), then it was bought by a guy in Duluth who used it during the summers.
Thanks for the offer though.
Eric

So, Eric; it's been a month...what happened?
Was it what you expected?
Did you get it?
Can we see it?

Hi, Sorry about the long delay. Yes, I did get the car, a 94 Caprice with the 5.7 and I'm pretty pleased with myself (so far). Apparently the seller's definintion of no rust at all was a bit optimistic, even when I asked about the area at the bottom of the spare tire carrier. There are some rust holes there, but every thing else seems to be surface rust and not too much of that. The car ran solid on its 250 mile trip to its new home. There are some issues, the check engine light and the check gages light are both on constantly. The odometer also randomly reads what ever mileage it feels like at any given moment. My best guess is there's 125 - 150,000 miles on the car.
I washed the salt off the car and parked it in my shed. For now I'm trying to get my garage completed and tend to a couple of other irons in the fire. Thinking I'll be able to dive into things come March or April. Will try to get a photo or two up in a couple of days.
So tell me, the trip to get the car, motel, and one new battery, and the car cost me a total of $1200, did I do OK???
Thanks,
Eric

WE really don't matter Eric.

The important part is if you are satisfied, as that's all that matters.
So what if some 60 year old guy with a sheep fetish in Rochester thinks it was a good/bad deal.
If you are content, then that's the most important part of the transaction.

Congratulations on the purchase!

Dave

ps. the sheep think it's a good deal.
