My fan started making a lot of noise today. If I turn up the speed it goes away but at lower speeds it is a high pitched squeal.

What needs replacing now and how hard is it going to be? Razz

my advice would be to place an AC/DC Cd in your audio system and crank it up, you shouldn't hear the squealing from the blower fan.

I hate to tell you this but you are going to have to replace it, best do it now while the weather is still warm, it's a bitch of a job in the cold of winter....

remove the passenger black footwell cover, then unplug the fan, then 3 bolts and it comes right out.

You might see if there's any junk inside the blower; sometimes these cars do get stuff in them. You could also try oiling the motor shaft, but don't hold your breath.

Autozone sells these for $40 new. I have a spare one of these for $15 if you want.

Yes, replacing the fan is easy. Maybe Pat is thinking of the heater core?

Anyways, watch out for the parts store replacements. Usually you have to cut your wiring connector off and splice it in, and the cage doesn't have the same number of blades so the air doesn't move as well. Speaking from experience on my old 9C1.

If you can get a good used one for 15 bucks, go for it!

I will pick that up too when we do the airbags. Thanks again!

much easier to work in there when you take out the passenger seat too. only six bolts and you have to be a contortionist. that one bolt by the firewall is a PITA though.

I've done it twice. Once to take out of the parts car (92) and once to put it in my 94.
funny thing was one car used 6mm socket and the other one 5.5 sorry don't recall which was which but I didn't bother putting the one by the firewall back in and it hasn't hurt anything...
