Saying bye-bye to the rear air shocks. The car still had the stock factory air shocks, and I blew one out with a load of kids and tables in the car for our Thanksgiving dinner party. I hit a big pothole and the car began to ride like Uncle Buck's Mercury in the back. Left shock was totally covered in oil, and right one was leaking too.

Went to Rock Auto and have Moog variable-rate CC623 coil springs and KYB KG5504 Gas-A-Just shocks on order. I loved the CC623's on my Roadmaster. This is the same setup I did on that Roady...got totally away from air. Can't wait to install them!

Will have to wait until later to order the new front KYB's. Next paycheck!

For you folks that are interested, her are the numbers from Rock Auto. These are the same for TBI or LT1 cars, Olds, Buick and Chevy. Great update to your wagon!

KYB Part # KG5504 Gas-A-Just
Rear; Estate Wagon $31.79

KYB Part # KG4515 Gas-A-Just
Front; Wagon; $33.79

MOOG Part # CC623 Sold In Pairs
Variable Rate Springs; Rear; Wagon $53.79

Will be nice to have the new Olds riding more like a car than like a boat on waves!

Little-by-little!

-Mike

New Moog rear springs and KYB shocks are in. Sits nice and the improvement in the ride is amazing. Rear is much firmer but still rides SMOOTH. And best of all, no more messing with air issues EVER!

Can't wait to put a matching set of KYB's up front after the holidays.

Oh and if you have a TBI car, remember to pull the 25-amp fuse, #4 in the side dashboard fusebox, to disable the air compressor pump. If you do this on an LT1 car it's in a fuse box on the passenger-side wheel-well under the hood.

Take care all!

-Mike

I know this post is old, but I have a question for you.

"MOOG Part # CC623 Sold In Pairs
Variable Rate Springs; Rear; Wagon $53.79 "

Will these work for the front as well? Or is it a different part #

BTW....found these springs on Amazon for roughly $10 cheaper. If anybody is looking.

They will not work for the front. They are completely different springs, shape, size, diameter.
