Don't you hate it when the wife is right

Warning long post....
Friday afternoon about 3:45 I check my local U-Pull-it to see if there is going to be anything exciting for the 50% off weekend. OH they put out a 91 Caprice. The wife says lets go. She would rather go to a junk yard than the mall. One reason we have been married for over 33 years, We hop in the Monte to just go look. WE find it right away. I open the door and see blue buckets with a center console. My son might like these. Great I had put the tools in the Caprice. I noticed a sticker on the door post property of City of Sanford. Yep duel electric fans, what is left of the green hoses. I look at the rear end tagged.... Limited slip. So with no tools I can not do much. But he does need the wood grain above the glove box and he could use a new bezel. The piece above the glove box was laying on the floor. One tab was broke but we can make that work. I did not see the cluster bezel. I open the trunk a really clean one is laying there. I score. Now the wife says it looks different, No this is a 91 and ours are 93s . The only thing different is for some reason this one is burgandy in a blue interior car. I show her it fits, Wait a 9C1 insterment cluster. That is right no tools. I figure the yard will be closing soon so no one will bother my find. So I grab the pieces and come home. THE WIFE WAS RIGHT. We have light woodgrain and this one is dark. So we plan on going back Saturday. We get there before they open and the line was back to the back fence. Great there will be nothing left. We get through the line fast. No one is by the Caprice yea. First thing I notice is the center console is gone. The drivers seat is tore so we will pass on these for now.Opting for a better pair later.(per my son) He needs the glass and track out of the drivers door. Plus now I have to get the "cups "off the doors to match the dark woodgrain. SO I look, yep, power window power door lock, no power mirror but it will work. Back look the same too. I grab all four. Here they come like ants at a picnic. 1st guy are you taken the whole door? The wife says yes before I can say a word. So I am getting the whole door now. Next thing I know the hood struts are coming off guys are undoing the tranny. parts are coming off the engine. The wife decides it is time to go. We are not a chop shop she says. LOL Just one minute I am getting that insturment cluster as long as I am inside this car. So we go home with our goodies. Now the wife has already proved me wrong on the bezel. Now she says did you check the door wood grain to make sure it is correct. This time I just know I am right so I take each piece and begin to lay them by the coreect door. Driver front correct Driver rear correct. Passenger rear correct. I knew I was right this time. Passenger front. WTH wrong. No cut out for power window...and an ashtray in it as well . MY wife laughed for a good half an hour. Needless to say pictures will be taken from now on if I can only figure out how this phone works LOL

Never heard of different groups stripping the same car at the same time around here before but I guess nowadays anything goes.Guess there is no such thing as JY etiquette.Good thing the wife is so sharp and likes to go with you.Nice score Dave!

Yes over a 91. We do not see many in our yards here in Daytona for some reason.

I never saw it before either. We usually can take our sweet time looking around and pulling parts. But most of the time it is for vans or something no one cares about I guess.

Cappys are in demand in FL

Had that happen to me in one of the Atlanta Pull a Parts. Showed up early...started pulling some parts off a RMSedan and minutes later 6 guys come up and start tearing the thing apart. I was under it getting the oil filter adapter. hahaa

I've yelled at people who just come up and start taking parts off the car I'm working on. It's highly annoying and rude. I was taking parts off the caddy I got my doors from (taking off dash pieces) and a guy who was there with his buddys a few cars over (working on a pickup) comes over and starts trying to rip the hood ornament off while I'm working on the car. I yelled at him to stop and he looks up shocked and says "uhhh.....did you want that?" I said "yeah, I'm stripping the car" He said "oh" and moseys back to his pickup.

Guess the morons hang out in the JYs looking to piss someone off.
