PostSubject: Another COld air thread - with solution   Another COld air thread - with solution Icon_minitimeFri Jun 07, 2013 3:33 pm

So my blower died 2 days ago on the way home from work. It had been making noise on high since I bought the car. I figured the blower motor went south. So I went ahead and started tearing in as I have another one laying around and have done 2 or 3 already. Well jsut as I was about to drop the motor, I thought, "I should test out the new one!"

Plug in the new used one from a parted DGGM clone. and Nothing. When I bought it Eagle CO showed me it worked....huh.
Got and xtra battery in the garage, hook it up, works like Delco should....

Go back to the car put the voltmeter on the leads....... half a volt on all fan settings. Resistor pack! I pull it out and as the Olds has the SPiffy climate control it has the two connector version.

Run the delco part number in Auto zone and Advance....nothing. Crap. Look of ISSF and see a post from Fred K.
"If you find one it'll be 200 bucks" Double crap! Do ssome googling and find out that 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee's use the same part! Do a searh on Auto Zone and Advance sites and find it! Great.......but it's $184 and $275 respectively. Booooooo!

Call Roo as he went to local JY (half way between our two places) and he saw a couple Buick wagons! Off I go.
Found the two wagons and two sedans and pull all four of them! Spares, yaaay. Also got a pair of LDM sail panels for Dusty and another TBI 9C1 cluster. Mind you we were having a tropical storm and I got SOAKED and saw a funnel cloud off in the distance.

Interesting thing was the first car I found was a 92 RMS. that resistor pack had a different part number from the other 3 and differed in that in steat of one pin and three pin config has a 2 and 4 config. the two wagons were a 92 and 93 and the other sedan was a 94 . Didn't notice if the clips were wired to match or not....found it curious.

So I go back out and plug one in, yippee I have AC again.

I had a similar issue about a month ago when I got my car out of storage, fan only worked on high. After some lookin' on the web I found what you found out Sprocket, same one in Jeeps. Lot of Grand Cherokees in the yard, but I only found 1.... $5.00, worked great. I forgot to post this tidbit of info back then.

Wow, I just read this again. I did not know that the Jeeps used the same part.

Can I buy one from you?

I need one sooner. I'm gonna put an AC compressor in my wagon before I go. I need AC for the drive or my northern family will melt lol.

this guy is closeer and parting out a wagon, maybe you can get his and save on shipping

Any RMW of RMS will have one as well as the at least the 96 Grand Cherokee (probably other years too).

Is it the same part on my '95?

Sometimes (and usually after a few hours of driving in really hot weather) the air barely comes out of the vents. Thing is, I can hear that blower cranking on high still. Could this be the same problem you had Sprocket?

I just pulled a "Joel" here. Prob should start my own thread. lol

Hey hey hey...

You need that electronic resistor module thingy? Send me a PM - I have a spare you can buy, and I can get it in the mail quick.

Chris, yes the part is the same on all years of buicks and Olds with the auto climate control.
I pulled 4 at the yard two 92s,93 and 94 and one from the tbi 92 RMS was a little different (haven't tried to use that one yet) the plugs are all the same.
