If the F letter is flashing that means you are low on freon. Are you familiar with the charging procedure?Fan still running and the digital readout is otherwise normal?

Ok - Thank you :-)
Not familiar with how to charge it, but I need to take it in anyways since the compressor has slow leaks in 3-4 places. Guess this has just mov3ed to the top of the fix/replace list.

The F (actually, F°/C°) flashing means there is a fault. You have to enter the diagnostic mode to find out what the fault is. Press and hold the TEMP^ and OFF buttons for about 5 seconds untl the display changes, showing the fault code.

The 91 to 93 system only looks at the HVAC system and is a bit different than the system in the later 94-96 models (which provides info about all systems). Here's the 91-93 codes:

00 - no faults
01 - Temperature Air Valve Motor potentiometer circuit open
02 - Temperature Air Valve Motor potentiometer circuit shorted
03 - Outside Air Temperature sensor open
04 - OAT sensor shorted
05 - Inside Air Temperature sensor open
06 - IAT sensor shorted
07 - Sun Load sensor open
08 - SL sensor shorted
09 - Low freon
10 - UART failure

Note that only 09 is stored. After servicing the AC system, you have to press "OFF" while in diagnostic mode to reset the compressor.

There are also some system parameters that can be accessed in diagnostic mode. Press TEMP^ or TEMP˅ while in diagnostic mode until the desired index number is displayed, then press °F/°C button to display the value:

Index numbers:
02 IAT sensor (value rises as temperature decreases)
03 OAT sensor (ditto)
04 Sun Load sensor (above 200 = dark; under 150 = bright sun)
05 Engine coolant temperature (°C)
06 Vehicle speed
11 Temperature Air Valve commanded position (0= full cold, 225 = full hot)
12 Temperature Air Valve feedback (should be within 3 points of commanded position)
13 TAV calibration -full hot (initial reading should be >180)
14 TAV calibration -full cold (initial reading should be <50)
18 Number of consecutive short compressor cycles for low freon detection (10 or more disables compressor)

To exit diagnostic mode, press "AUTO" or "ECON".

EDIT: Just to clarify, if code 09 is stored, your AC will not work even if you recharge the system. You MUST clear 09 by pressing "OFF" while in diagnostic mode to re-enable the compressor.
