Wagonfest Florida 2014 - March 28,29,30 Daytona Beach

As usual we will have our meet within the confines of the Daytona Spring Turkey Run.
Their registration won't be up until after the BIG Turkey Run coming up at the end of the month so you'll have to wait on that.

That said, we strongly recommend that you PRE-REGISTER your wagon or other B-body so we don't have some of the issues like last year with people getting turned away at the gate. We haven't had any wagons turned away, but a 93 Fleetwood and a new Caprice PPV got denied last year. If you have any questions about it, contact the Turkey Run folks and send them photos of your car.

The host hotel has not been selected yet. While the place we were at last year was nice, it didn't have a pool or a real congregating area for us to hang out (although we are car nuts so the parking lot was ok). Details to follow on that one.

Plans this year, include the all important post show BBQ, and we'd like to expand on the awards this year with possibly a few more categories (like best non-wagon) or something.

Anyone who wants to help out lmk, I'm sure I can keep you busy...

I'm going to try the La Quinta again. I liked that hotel a little better - and since 2 year ago they've upgraded and all the rooms have fridges and TVs apparently.

I'm going. Will I be in a wagon? Time will tell....

For the BIG Turkey Run, I will be in the former Jameston Inn.. (the hotel we were at first. It is now called the baymont. )

Ditto on the LaQuinta had the nice pool and plenty of room.

We will be there again this year.  Actually we will be snowbirds in St. Simon, GA for Jan 1st to April 1st.  It will be nice and easy to get there to WF.  Not sure what I will be driving as we will have Jake the boxer with us.  He is rough on the interior, so he is relegated to a 2003 Grand Marquis.  He is not allowed in the wagons or Fleetwood.  I may have to bend the rules.  OR, even better, I have my eyes on a wagon in GA.  I don't know if I can pull it off with the Mrs. though.  Although she just came back from a 3 week vacation to Washington State, to see her family.  So, that has to get me some points, but have to use them quick as they get forgotten.

I'm in. Having no experience with the other places besides last year's hotel I'll just say that I liked the Comfort Inn and would stay there again. The price and location were perfect.

Believe it or not, LQ was an even better location - no u-turns required because it was on the same side of the street.

I'm planning on going again, no idea what I'll be taking though. So many choices! I vote for LQ, although having an Autozone next door was VERY convenient.

I like the La Quinta and can use my points for free nights...Yea One more incentive to drive down.

I think we have a hotel down there, but no free nights over big events =(

Anybody want to look for a 93 Roadmaster Wagon for me from down there? I'd fly down and drive it back. Say $1,200- $2,000 range

Is there anything in particular going on with the Thanksgiving show this year? Anyone know if one can still register at the gate? I might be up that way with something, maybe even a skateboard.  

Hey Sprocket, I can do the meat pickup this year if you want. Just let me know how many steaks you need. I will be there with the Starship. This will be the first time I have the interior complete. Maybe I will get it painted (novel idea) all one color, and no peeling clearcoat. I get to show off my fender skirts too.

If anyone needs parts, I can do a fest discount, and bring them along.

I will be back this year for sure, and this year I will be pre registered!! I had such a great time last year, and I'm sure it will be as good this time. Hopefully, a little less rain. As to the hotel, the last place was fine, but as Sprocket said, a pool and a better place for the party would be nice. Either way, if you are reading this and have not been to the show and gathering, it was a great time, so make it if you can.

I don't want to influence your decision but I stay at La Quinta’s for work travel they save a lot of money over the year instead of Hilton or Marriot. The Speedway location works for me and is free…. Jeff (from a La Quinta in Kansas City)

THat is actually our first choice we just couldn't get it last year. It has a nice pool and lots of space for our BBQ.

Yeah, we really liked LQ in 2012. I'm working on getting us back in there at a group rate.

Sign up, send picture of your wagon, and pay for your entrance fee at http://daytonabeachcarshows.com/. Make a reservation at the recommended motel. Drive to Daytona on the first day of the Spring Turkey Run (or Saturday, the second day). Check into the motel. Either meet up with other Wagon Fest attendees at the motel, and go to the track, or go to the track and look for the wagons at the fence where you enter the infield display area.

Your package from the track will give you directions to the gate for entrance into the infield.

You should bring your wagon too.

What Fred said. I would STRONGLY recommend you pre-register, especially if the car is stock looking. I have gone 5 years in a row and never had an issue as I was pre-registered.

That is 100% the Turkey Run people and it's their show. We informally gather in the same are the Impala SS guys staked out years ago and mix and mingle with them.

I'll put together a thread with specific details after New Year's, but essentially it's hang out at the show all day Sat and a BBQ at the hotel Sat night.

In years past, I've just used Priceline's Find Group Deals tool. Seemed to work pretty well.

I'm thinking about comming down for the show. I have family in Ormand beach. I could kill 2 birds in one trip.
