Hey all!

Ok I KNOW it's not a longroof but I just made a deal on this and wanted to show it off. It belongs to the guy that bought my '89 Olds Custom Cruiser wagon. He only has really nice cars and I've ALWAYS wanted one of these. Think it'll look neat next to the Roadmaster Wagon in the driveway.

Car is a totally rust-free '88 Cutlass Supreme Classic (last year for the RWD G-body) with the V8, floor shift console, full gauges, buckets, handling package, chrome Super Stock wheels, t-tops, and no stupid vinyl roof.

He added the factory Hurst Olds spoiler to it when he bought it, other than that it's totally stock. It's by far the nicest one I've seen in a while and is set up exactly like I always wanted one. ZERO rust in, on, or under it, which is even more rare for a t-top. Floors are solid and carpets are clean. It's always been stored inside.

He e-mailed me last night and I spoke to him this morning. I can't pass up this deal. About to be in the doghouse with my wife....again!

-Mike

It has just under 100K miles on it. This one will be kept in the garage, rubbed with a diaper, and taken out for weekend use only. ; )

My only plan is to do some detail work on it to make it as nice as I can, and about the only mod I plan to do is replace the single exhaust with a cat-back DynoMax Monte Carlo SS system. I had an 85 Grand Prix years back and put the same exhaust on it and loved the sound.

Projects!

Man does THAT bring back some memories.

Too bad it has the Euro clip... otherwise, perfect. Smile

Thanks I'm tickled with it, although I can't believe I have another gutless 307 around. ; )

It does pull the lighter Cutlass a lot better than the Custom Cruiser.

Yeah, it wasn't too bad in our Cutlass.

Of course it REALLY woke up when it got the 455 swap. Wink

We just sort of fell into ours. The 307 developed some sort of issue (I don't remember, I was like 7 or 8 years old) and dad bought a motor from a friend of his that we thought was an Olds 350.

It wasn't. Very Happy

It was. Mom hated that car though. Hated it so much, in fact, that one day she GAVE it away. Sad

It ran just fine, she just didn't like it sitting for the winter up in Maine. Dad and I were furious. He was going to give me the car when I turned 16, but she gave it away when I was 12.

I fell in love with these when I was 17 back in New Jersey. I worked at a gas station and the owner's mother had an 85 Cutlass Salon. Blue on blue, buckets, floor shift, 307, I just LOVED that car. Sad thing was this was around 1991 and the bottom of the doors were rusted behind the chrome trim the Salons had....car was only 6-years old. Damn salt.

I've wanted a Cutlass since then, but the closest I got was that 85 Grand Prix. Only took 19 years to get me one.

I'll have one someday. I looked high and low for one when I ended up with the wagon. Only problem is that here in Florida they fetch stupid crazy prices because of the hip hop "culture" (I use the term loosely, of course), and I was in no position to ship a car or go fly to pick one up and drive it back, at the time.

Ideally, I want an '84, no vinyl top, and blue if at all possible. That's what ours was.

Yep you really have to look long and hard for one now that is not totally worn out or totally modified into a dayglow-colored rolling speaker system.

I really always wanted an 85-86 442. Love those.

Funny thing is I was NOT looking for this car, just got an e-mail out of the blue. The guy I'm getting it from wants my old 1993 S-10 pickup for his girlfriend's 16-year-old son. So we worked out a trade. He remembered how much I drooled over the Cutlass two years ago when I sold him my 89 Olds wagon.

It's good to have car friends!

good looking car,. don't add too much power to it,. it'll twist easy with the T tops,. (i know,.)
Having said that i still have a couple of big block olds 455's laying around,. a .060 over and a.040 over even an old offy low rise 2x4 intake with 500 carters,.

The little 307 runs like a watch so I'll most likely leave it alone for now. Car has 92K original miles. It's not a powerhouse but it cruises really well and rides smoother than my Roadmaster.

I'm going to do some detail and refurb on the interior...re-paint the black spokes on the steering wheel, clean an/or replace the carpet, has some stains. Just detail work. I'm going to put the stock Delco ETR radio back in it and stash a CD changer in the truck. Will keep it as stock and original as possible.

Will be a weekend fun car. It'll be fun to take it up in the hill country or down to the gulf for a weekend. Looking forward to popping off the T-tops and going to the Saturday night cruise-in's too.

Such fun!

Maybe in a few years I'll start searching for an Olds 350 or 455. ; )

Looking forward to getting some pics of it with the Roadmaster this weekend. My two big white cars. Ha!

Man... I'm going to have a car problem when I'm older. I've already developed a laundry list of ones I want to buy (attainable ones, nothing ridiculous yet), and it just... keeps... growing.

I've had that problem a long time now! I buy and sell cars a lot, much to my wife's misery. I've had many that people shake there heads at ( 1981 Citation X-11, and yes the 89 Custom Cruiser) and many that I REALLY WISH I'D KEPT (1969 GTO convertible and 1979 L-82 4-spd Corvette), but all are interesting....at least to me.

Take Care!

-Mike

I kinda like this current "last year of the breed" kick I'm on, what with the 96 Roadmaster and the '88 Cutlass both being the final years for those models...well before the Cutlass went to FWD.

Would love an 88 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe or an 88 Fiero GT. In typical GM format most have all the bugs worked out just in time for GM to kill them. Ha!

I picked up a black 2001 Grand Prix Nascar Special Edition for my wife about two weeks ago. Figured we'd save her older Suburban for trips and family visits, and the GP gets a lot better mileage than the Sub's 16mpg.

I like the GP, the 3800 is strong and the car is really sharp, but I'm just not a big fan of front-drive. I have a feeling the GP won't be with us too long, but it'll take something pretty wild to make me part with the new Cutlass or the Roadmaster.

Such fun!
