| 127mm is, in fact, 5 inches, so you are good there BUT, with the 56.4" offset......... | |

Oh. I thought that Jeep rims couldn't fit our cars at all.

| Yeah, you'd need spacers. 56mm offset is way higher than our cars. |

| You need 5 on 5 to 5 on 5, that you bolt on, with built in studs to bolt your wheels to. Probably 2.5" thick or so. You'd have to figure out the difference between the backspacings and make it up with the spacer. GOOD spacers will cost you 200 bucks. And you don't phuck around with those. EDIT: Something like this. | |

| can anyone tell me the exact back spacing of our standard wheels please? There's a few 5x5 to 5x5 spacers listed on ebay, so i think I can get a set (maybe $120) I just need to know what width to order. Also, the jeep wheels at 8" wide, will they fit ok with just the back spacing taken care of? K9 | |

| 2 inch spacers should work (actual 1.96). The OEM offset is 6. | |

| I'm always on Craig's list looking for 5x5 with good tires for cheap.....I've picked up a set of Impala rims, but everyone has those. I'm running a set of 15 Crager soft 8s but they come in larger diameters. They look good and are pretty cheap to buy..... | |

| To keep the stock height I got these. The other option I considered was the Michelin Primacy MXM4 but with the snow we can get I figured the narrower Goodyear's would be the best option. Since I was buying both rims and tires the tires I chose determined the rim size. With the $80 rebate I thought it was a good deal on those tires which looked to be the best all season option. | |

K9 There was an episode of the comedy program Reno 911 where the (amazingly stupid) Reno police department got a British copper as part of a foreign exchange program. The Reno cops were snickering at the copper who had never handled a gun. Then they let the guy do a routine traffic stop, because he wouldn't get hurt on an easy stop. The copper dragged the driver out of the window, kicked his ass, stole the cash from his wallet, and then calmly came back to the cruiser. Yep, easy stop. After that, the Reno cops respected him.

| That sounds about right! Of course, i wouldn't advocate that, but it would negate the need for a gun! Of course, having a snarling land shark often has a similar effect!
Like my daddy always told me, being a cop is a very easy job to do, doing it well, he said, is the hardest job in the world...

| Nick, being a limey he might not be familar with rust, since all English cars have a permenant 40W undercoating system built is at the factory.... And no, you can't swap in Smith Gauges and Lucas electricals into a wagon.... | |

| I left england at age 13 from an all boys grammar school,. so i,m well aware of language differences between north america and blighty. faggots and peas has an entirly different meaning across the pond, and i miss Millers pork pies.
Question still stands who diagnosed the problem,. and how?,. was there in fact a mechanical pressure guage put in? Last i heard it was still under investigation,. and there oft times other noises that can be misconstrued as bearing noise.

| Well, so the local mechanic (an experienced American) has said that the 'bottom end rattle' a con rod big end bearing. It IS rev dependent, and sound appalling. I've tried rocking it fwds/bkwds to rule out flex plate bolts, and that's not it. If you can fix it, come get it, but to my mind, and I'm fairly mechanically inclined, I agree with the mechanic, it sounds like a big end bearing. He's not motivated by telling me it's that if it isn't, as he wouldn't get the job anyway, so I'm comfortable either way that I'm out of the car, and need it gone. | |
