| Why are you looking for a "lumpy" cam? Lope is cool I will admit, but not always the best way to judge performance.
To do a cam right you will need to change your valve springs at a minimum. ..........I would suggest you also change to a 1.6 roller rocker if the push rods will fit. \ ................To change the cam the lifters, rods, rockers and intake will need to be removed. To do the valve springs it is easiest if you remove the heads. .......................As long as the heads are off, you might as well have some port work done, bigger valves, etc, etc, etc. Your wallet goes down hill from there!!!
The most bang for the buck is rear gears, in my opinion. Although your car will not be "lumpy" it will get you off the line faster. Which gears? How/where do you drive and how important is fuel mileage vs power. There is ALWAYS a give and take.
So before you begin outline why you want to do this? What HP goals you have? What is your budget? Then triple your budget and you might have something. | |

| Im not looking for more HP. I added straight pipes with so mufflers or anything.
I live in NYC, I cant go fast anywhere anyway. but I just like the lumpy sound of the exhaust. im looking around for a cam I can just replace with out any issues.

| You can probably find a cam that has little HP gains but gives you a lumpy idle. Going to cost you fuel mileage and maybe even power. Not my idea of a great mod. Call Comp Cams help line, they have Thump series of cams designed for lope. Oh and call it Cam Lope when you talk to them. I would still suggest that you replace your valve springs. You may even be able to go with stock or close to stock springs. I have a set of LT1 stock springs I would let you have for very little. I bought them for the wagon and never ended up using them. Harbor Freight sells the tool to compress them, you just have to turn your engine over with the plugs out to be sure you cylinder is up so you do not drop a valve into a cylinder. You need to do the research to be sure they will work on a TBI car. I am sure someone on the Impala forum has tried it. Good luck. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] | |

| You could get a few more HP with an LT1 cam swap.
Check out thirdgen.org - they've got a massive database of TBI knowledge. |

| Take off one plug wire.... That will give you a "lumpy" idle for no money at all. Mike | |

| I have an LO5 upgrade kit with headers, LT1 cam, large bore TBI with adjustable pressure regulator, reprogrammed computer, extra manifold, and 9C1 TBI injectors that I purchased, but have since decided to go a different route. I can get the header pipe flange as well. All for $400 shipped.

I have an idea,. don't do it, your tbi won't work with a lumpy cam unless with a reflashed chip,. if your motor is flat tappet you will need lifters,. you should have headers,. you should have an upgraded intake,.you would need bigger injectors,. with no experience,. don't do it. thats the best idea so far,.
