Hi from NC....New Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser owner

Hi, just picked up a nice and extremely clean and unmolested 1992 Olds Custom Cruiser. It has 123000 miles and has been babied her whole existence. It does have a couple small issues that I will post elsewhere. I paid $3500 for it......how'd I do??

Not chrome, they were polished by the previous owner......he was crazy meticulous, he had 4 wagons of his collection of eight pristine automobiles. Man do I wish I had his garage!!

Clean, well cared for, relatively low mileage, rust free NC CC for $3500--got yourself a nice car at a fair price.

Welcome aboard! Love those polished wheels, I would have thought chromed too.

Wow I love it. $3500 and nothing to do to it,... but those little touches to make it your own. Very Nice.

Yes it was, I'm loving it so far. Although today I lost my starter.........

The listed starters for these cars are not very stout. A better choice would be to go with either a high-dollar GOOD starter or a cheap, but beefier starter made for an older model. It will require a couple of new, longer bolts & a little metal work on the flywheel cover, but it will crank faster and last longer.

You did well from the Pics!!! Keep it nice and it will take you down the road for ever!! I have turned into a wagon NUT!! I started with a 1984 Caprice wagon. I bought it in 1995 for $600.00
I had to let it go in 2001 due to heavy rust.

Not sure how long, I still communicate with the previous owner so I will quiz him on this and get back to you. I'm thinking with the right tools and polishing materials, probably not too long......maybe a six-pack or twelver at best!! Wink

I am getting some ralley wheels much like what you're running, wanna do the same with the raised whities as well. I am having a hard time deciding between them and the classy stockies.....maybe some raised whities on them would be cool too(?)

By the way, love the two tone root-beer float thing you got going there......looks AWESOME!!

I looked into this and seems that the stock was a 1.0KW and an upgrade is a 1.5KW at a 50% increase in cost, kinda makes sense giving that it is 50% more KW.... I'm definitely going to pay the extra, nothing worse that being stranded somewhere, lying on the ground & beating on a starter!! Well actually there are much worse things, but you get what I mean.

When I went to the auto parts store almost NINE years ago, I knew that the stock starters were considered junk. I had purchased the car less than two years before this, and the dealer had had to replace the starter with a rebuilt at the last minute when I bought the car from him. So, there I was, replacing it again. The counter guy at Murray's (or Autozone, can't remember) showed the same two rebuilds for most of the '80's block-mount Chevy V8's. Regular & Z-28. Both of them were bigger, huskier & less expensive than the rebuild listed for my 95. I wondered how many customers were going in there and screwing themselves on the more expensive pieces of junk. Anyways, the mounting carcass on the Z-28 starter I bought was around 1/4" thicker than the original, so I bought two longer bolts because the old ones weren't going to get enough bite into the block and I figured they could snap. This same starter is still on the car almost nine years later, and it only cost me something like $30 at the time. The real expensive, geared starters were several pounds lighter, but they were at some ridiculous price like $180 back then, with no track record.

If you are interested let me know as they are always looking for new members. Currently the club is 35+ members strong, and continues to grow.

hello I own both years 91 and a 92 Custom Cruiser 91 has 147k is dark blue 92 has 223k is the all gray one

That is a beautiful car, it's a shame they only went two years on the Oldsmobile versions. I love the blue leather interior!
