Yep arne't those center caps neat? Once of the folks on the Google wagon group had them custom made for his car, but ended up selling his car, and he was nice enough to send those to me. I love them. Very one-of-a-kind.

White or burgundy are my two favorite colors on these cars. I looked long and hard to find this one. I'm almost embarressed to show the "before" pic. I found the car on a used car lot in San Antonio in April of this year.
It only had 73K miles on it, and was mechanically very solid, but cosmetically needed help. Not a spec of rust though...thank goodness. Texas car since new. Came from the air force base there and someone traded it at the Mercury dealer. (Ha!) The dealer sold it to the little Mom and Pop car lot where I got it.
Here's a pic...falling off and missing side trim, ugly hubcaps, peeling wood trim, dirty, but I could see what it "could" be! Been a fun project. Have spend almost every weekend working on it since the end of April:

Came off a late 80's Buick Regal GS coupe in a salvage yard. Fits the contour of the Roadmaster grill perfectly. Keep your eyes peeled for one when yarding. I see you have a "Gran Sport" too. Glad I'm not the only goofy one here.
Funny you should mention that....my wife and I saw a citation driving down the road yesterday, and she asked "What the Hell is that?"....I had to explain the history of those pieces, er, fine gm autos. But back to the topic, very sweet ride!

I've had a LOT of Chevy Citations in the past...but none now. An 83 was my first car, and I've had three X-11's.....the "sport" model. When I was younger there were a lot out there in they were dirt cheap. Now they're basically all gone, but my best friend still has my best one, an 81 X-11 I had for about 15 years. Sold it to him about two years ago.
And nobody knows what it is now. Had one kid TOTALLY convinced it was an old Maserati. Ahahahahahaha!

ps, this same friend also has a 67 VW Beetle, a 79 AMC Pacer, and his daily driver is an 86 Caprice with Corvette Rally wheels and blackout trim.
Everyone needs friends like that. Ha!

I try to do before and after on all my projects. When you get frustrated on something it's good to be able to look at what you've done. Motivation to go on.
Speaking of which, I went out to the garage at 8pm tonight and opened the hood. I'd decided to attempt installing the Vette fuel rail covers. I stood there for 10 mins and then closed the hood. Didn't want to be up half the night....but I REALLY want to get them on!
Think I'll make that a weekend project...ha!

Hardest part so far was fixing the peeling trim around the woodgrain. Whoever decided to wrap that trim in woodgrain sticker at GM should have his ass kicked.
I ended up having to replace some that was dented, and I sanded and painted the rest on the car. Spent three full nights after work sanding and a full afternoon taping it all ofv and painting it. Went with a satin color called Nutmeg, really looks nice in my opinion.
The wheels made the biggest difference in the look of the car, but fixing that woodgrain trim was a close second.

Thanks for the compliment! I love the car a lot.
As for the window tint, I did 35% on all the door glass and 15% on the rear cargo area windows and rear hatch glass. REALLY helps the a/c cool the car and also really looks good in my opinion!

No I've got a local guy that i use for all my projects. I had my 89 Custom Cruiser even darker, but it was a pain at night and my co-workers started calling it "the hearse" so on this one I didn't go quite as dark.

Yep it's a great look. The guy at my tint shop about passed out when I pulled up in it. Kept joking that he was going to have to order more tint and that I was trying to put him out of business. Ha!
