| You should get a bigger diameter TBI, and bore out the intake manifold to match. At least a 46mm. You can use the airflow. | |

| I've already talked to my tuner and the injector company. My set up is fine. This is a budget build. Don't plan on keeping this motor for long anyways. | |

| Finally done and running. Couple little things (boot to sheild the CTS from heat, etc) but boy does it run great. Never had this much power. Super happy. - scoffman wrote:

How much is the chip gonna cost? The tune was $175 by tbichips.com. Brian is wicked helpful and can help you get the right tune for your setup. Few more pics. Longtubes clear below the stock xmember. | Few observations.
First off, I can't say enough good about the summit long tubes. Cut the frame braces off the car, and they slid right in ZERO mods. Next, if you run the L98/9C1 cam. You don't really need the 9C1 chip. It certainly helps the car run 100% best, but while diagnosing an unrelated issue I put the stock tune back in and it runs fine. Also, you don't "need" the 9C1 injectors either. I had my stock "61#" injectors rebuilt by Witch Hunter and they came back 70#'s which are more than good enough. (9C1's got 65#). Also, a heated, three wire O2 is a good idea if you plan to run long tubes as it helps get the car into closed loop quicker. I bought a ready made adapter harness on ebay for $25. Really easy to install. Last observation is that for the TBI guys, you really need to put a heat sock or boot over the coolant temp sensor on the side of the block. The long tubes get VERY close to it and throws the gauge off.

| A little of both. They're close, but not that close anymore, we adjusted them a bit, and that was before all the header bolts were in so the header was still a bit loose. | |

| Nice work!
If I may humbly offer regarding your comment about the tune not necessary; unless you actually datalog/monitor the engine computer, I have found the butt dyno to be often wrong unless you have a real good feel for how engines should run, and guys like us don't fall into that group. I've had some Lt1s whose factory tunes were pretty far off optimal for those particular engines but they ran okay and would get you to work and back. Even my really nice RMW had crappy tip-in when you slam the gas. After doing adjustments off the factory O2 sensors, all of these cars ran a lot crisper. It's likely that your refurbished injectors happen to closely match your new combo, and that's why it ran okay on the stock tune.
