| Okay since I bought the Fleetwood, it was pretty much parked after the tire delaminated (just got new ones the other day) so I was still driving Mr. Trustworthy (now pushing 266K) to and from work, etc.
Those who are friends with me on Faceybook saw that my rear tire had belts popping out on the inside of the tire which I noticed while at a 20 mph crawl on the interstate (ass of the car was wagging a little). I also knew she was going to need front pads soon. When I got new tires last Sunday for her, the tire guy showed me the rim had some oil on it. Well a year ago I parked the car on an incline drivers side down and the axle seal in the drum leaked. I was in Atlanta, but had a friend that we jacked the car up and checked the brakes and all were dry and when parked drivers side up hill it didn't leak. Fine don't park like that. About a month ago I had forgotten all about it and parked in a sloped lot the wring way again and when I left a day later there was a puddle again. Crap. Well I chalked it up to previous experience and didn't pay much mind as it doesn't leak when parked level....Or does it? Tire guy makes the comment, I recount above story. I go to pull the drum off while he's changing the tire. It won't come off, and I'm not dressed to mess with it. Just pulled it off and yep it's all wet inside. Dammit!
Add to that the heater control valve I replaced about 1.5 years ago had a catastrophic failure while driving home from work the other day. One minute she's running a cool 160, next I'm hearing Kenny Loggins singing in my head as the needles going north of 220 in a hurry. I got it home without roasting the oil (40 mph air cooling dropped it back down to 200ish) and noticed the oil pressure dropping at idle as the temp climbed (very unnerving last mile home!)
Man she's being a biatch this week but I still love her....
Time to pull the rear apart siiiiigh. | |

| Here's a crazy thought-drive the Fleetwood with 100,000 fewer miles on it! Besides, unless you need to use the storage capacity of the Olds, the Fleetwood drives nicer and quieter, I guarantee it. | |

| yeah but the Olds corners like a sports car compared to the 'wood lol. I'll be ordering up parts for it this week, My boy needs bearings for his rear axle so we'll have a 2 for party in the driveway, lol.

| Sounds like fun to me. You better check your axles and bearingsĀ on the FW while you have them out. When the seal leaks, it is usually because the axle is not centering in it (that equals bearings or worn axle bearing surface). | |

| FW is not the problem child, the blue olds and the white cappy are. I'll be doing bearings and seals in both of them. If I'm taking it apart I'm putting new bearings in. | |

| Give the OCC some love and attention, let her know that the Fleetwood can't replace her. | |
