| Ill start out with my All stock (except for a couple slightly more throaty mufflers) '96 Roadmaster. Best pass e.t wise was a 15.544 back on Oct 20,2009. Best mph. was 89.34 back on Oct 11, 2012 . Both were done at Atco Dragway in NJ. Stock 2.93 gears.
Ok all you owners with your "spiffed up" Roadie Estates, what did she do? Stockers and near stockers post too!

| 2010 before changing to a posi and 3.42:1 rear end. Engine now being reinstalled after "refreshing" and better programming. 14.30s @ 94.7 mphI'm shooting for over 100mph in the traps this year. There is a specific B-body event coming up nearby at New York International Raceway Park (Empire Drags) on Saturday August 29, with a rain date of Sunday August 30. Here's some FB info on the event. It's about 30 miles south of Rochester NY, near Geneseo, NY. You can google the location easily in Google Maps. https://www.facebook.com/events/1565093523749307/permalink/1592834530975206/

| With my current wagon my best was a 15.24@89.94. Back when I had my Electra Estate the best was a 13.51@99+ which was the last run it made with that drive train a 406 (dyno at 414hp and 440tq)with a 700 r4 3.23 gear. I broke the rear end (side gears which I replaced and ran fine) and had to tow it home. That winter I pulled the 406 out and put it in a regal as a play car. | |

| My 383 T56 Wagon. (4.56 rear gear, 200 AI heads) went 12.6 at Cayuga Speedway on it's only trip down the quarter. This was with a full exhaust and street radials. The car has more in it...my inability to shift gears, and reluctance to let it rev beyond 5500 was the limiting factor. | |

| Tim as you know the stock push rods were a surprise! If I had of known about them it likely would not have been at the track at all. After my mishap I took a look on one of the F body sites and discovered that its not all that uncommon for a stock 3 piece push rod to come apart. Its nice to have all 8 cylinders working again | |

Not familiar with baseball references. Did not run it stock I had the gears installed before I ever ran it. The baseball references are to the air intake resonators, the one on top of the engine looks like home plate and the one in between that and the air cleaner assembly is called first base. I bought it with no cats too, yes Mass does have vehicle inspections but anything older than 15yrs old does not need to pass emissions just safety. For reference I did take a 94 Caprice Wagon with only 44k miles for a pass down the track, all original very clean. It had the tow package with the 2.93 limited slip rear. It went 16.09 @ 85.

| Umm, you did read the very first entry in this thread, correct?. My 15.54 took more than one try. I ran some 16.0* passes. Heat sink really had an effect at the track. | |

| Amazing what a 4.10 rear can do to help a 4500lb. boat do in the 1/4 mile. More so than the other mods by themselves. | |

| 12:12 am , coming back from drag racing. Shammoo made it there. Prior to leaving for the even, I tried to get of my warm lean issues. Looked at some fuel tables from late last year, and noticed they were about 10% richer, so I copied them to get me out of the lean conditions for the day. That worked. Also added some cranking fuel in the 170-210 temp range to combat hot restart issues. That also seemed to work.
As a reminder, previous best ever, 14.3 at 94.7 mph
So first run by my son, in drive, just stomp and go. 14.38s @ 94.54 mph
My first run, using ratchet shifter.... 14.19s @ 95.50 mph
Second run, using ratchet shifter.....14.35s @ 96.85
So I ran my best time and best trap speed ever. It hooked up well on the track, not much wheel spin with everyone else leaving lots of rubber on it.
I'm sure there's more in there yet to be found, but the transmission is really early in drive. By 3000 rpm in already in second gear, and it's making lots of clicking noises in drive or reverse. Need that looked in to quickly.
Top dog of the Impalas was Dan Faye, beating perennial finalist Rob Hamilton.
It was a great day, not only for the cars, (lots of pics coming) when I finally get home) the racing and renewing friendships, but most of all...
I got to spend it with my son, Rich.
Dave

| I'd thought about that, hoping for something simple. The noise is there even when the car is standing still, which would indicate it's not the universals, as they are not moving at that time, but the clicking is still there. | |

| Interesting to see the time slips and hear about others.
I have never been to a track with a proper time clock, etc. However, not too long after I got the car I did try it out on a nice level section of empty highway over a measured 1/4 mile with a stopwatch in one hand and the wheel in the other. IIRC, my highly unscientific "test" produced a figure around 15 seconds. (stock tow-pack 95 RMW).
Mind you, hook-up was not an issue. I had the studded snow tires installed at the time (left some nice scars in the pavement).

| Naw.. I'm a cheap bastard at heart. My son's friend, Matt Gunther drives Pro-Mod.. 844 Cu In... not a typo! 844!
That's two of my engines and a rider lawn mower that I don't even own. Last run, which he won, was at night. We watched from behind the line. You could see two white hot flames coming from the exhauts. It reminded us of watching Top Gun, when the launch the jets off the deck , and you saw the two twin exhaust trails.
AWESOME! Just awesome... and the noise. What? WHAAT!

| According to a Buick sales booklet I have from 1996, a Roadmaster wagon's base curb weight is 4,486 lbs. The gas tank holds 21 gallons. Gas is approx. 6.2 lbs./gallon. Total = 4,616.2 lbs. The Caprice weighs less than the Roadmaster due to the Buick (among other things) having the Vista roof, power passenger seat, suspension air compressor. I'm sure members here have the Caprice wagon stats to compare to the Roadmaster's. | |
