Good morning Forum,
I was directed here by an existing member from the impala SS forum. I'm in Vermont, and just bought a dark cherry metallic 1995 Caprice Wagon with woodgrain, and gray deluxe interior.
Back in 2002 I bought a baby blue 1992 Caprice (305) from the VT Department of Corrections at the annual state surplus auction, which I loved. It had no trim, steel wheels, no rear jump seat. I honestly can't remember why I sold it.
Fast-forward 15 years or so and I was looking for a new summer commuter. Thinking through "What is cheap, reliable, gets decent mileage, cheap to insure, can haul anything, is safe and fun to drive but a bit odd?" I remembered the wagon from the past and went on the hunt for another.
I was dead-set on a white Roadmaster, but "settled" for the caprice after finding a nice specimen from South Carolina for dirt cheap that wouldn't run.
After an Opti, water pump, plugs & wires (issue was the coil to opti plug wire ultimately, not the opti itself), she roared to life and I've put about 1000 miles on it this month. It snowed yesterday, the salt trucks were out so she's shut down for the winter.
Looking forward to learning more about them, sharing my knowledge and meeting some other folks interested in these rigs.
