I purchased some LED bulbs (1157) to install in my dim backup lights. I was kind of surprised when I discovered they were not held in by the small prongs and sping contacts, but by this weird goo. I'd post a picture but it says everything too large...
Is this normal? I went on Ebay and looked at some replacement sockets for the backup light, and yes they were full of this yellow goo. I must have missed something, the last 1157 socket I had my hands on had two contacts on the bottom with small springs underneath that kept pressure on the bulb contacts when you twisted the prong in the slots...
Also the LEDs hit the outside of the sockets and would not go down far enough to engage the slots.
This is a thing I've never seen before...
