Welcome Bill, quite the list of cars. I bet you wish you had kept most if not all of them, lol.

Welcome to the swamp Bill.

You obviously picked up the addiction early on in life. Great collection of cars and boats from both sides of the ocean. Quick question. Who the hell would steal a 69 Austin America???? Around here, the only use for theses cars was to pull the engine and tranny out to stuff them into a Mini. The rest were given away by the owners.

Hope you kept the Rolls.

Also Bill

rolls don't age well unless used.. mine was deep ocean over ocean.. sort of dark blue top and light blue body..
today, an '82 is worth $15k MOL.. i sold the car for $1k more than i paid for it.. $50k..!
have pix somewhere of it and the '79 450SL..
will look if anyone has an interest..

IRT the austin america..
heh, THAT car was responsible for my first mercedes in 1970..
wife drove the '59 cadillac limo to sacramento from san mateo county to the state fair horse show and i followed in the austin later..
when i arrived the head had warped and the car was running very badly..
i was laying on the motel bed fulminating and reading the local bird cage liner when i spied an ad for the new '70 280SL at von housens motors..
(paid $7k, sold a year or two later for $8..! same with the 280SE 3.5 kab, paid $12k and about 2 years later sold for $15k..)
i made a deal, got the SL with the proviso that the salesman drive the austin back to the bay area..
the brit car dealer fixed it under warranty and it was stolen from there..
FBI came calling because the car was found at a race track in Massachusetts..
got all my mercedes cars from von housens motors for 10 years..

EDIT the car list to include a '39 ford 2 door with a new sears flat head V8 i got for $50 about 1968/1972.. when i was low on cash and cars..

NOTE: how does one edit his own posts..? i can't see how or i would edit the original car list post.. Smile

hanks for the, err, compliment..  Shocked  Smile

about the mid '50's the lincolns were winning the mexico road race..
car could handle.. but the spark plugs were hidden under the exhaust manifolds and one was between the starter motor and manifold..
i know because i changed them out..
besides it was the only decent car i could afford after i punched out the nash grill on a chevy rear bumper in san rafael..

ever since, GM..!

my mom and step father had a '47 roadmaster convertible, then later a '50 super sedan..

now with 3 roadmasters i have small projects for years to come..
add in 2 caddys and spare time is gone..

I think it has gone to a setup like many forums use that limits the time you have edit a post. Some it is 20 minutes and others it may be hours on forums that I have seen. I just put up a new post and the edit button shows, but older posts it is gone.

There may also be a number of posts that need to be made before any editing is available, kind of like with pix.

on my thinkpads forum i allow the author (or mods and admins) to edit anytime..
my typing skills are grade D and foot in mouth disease afflicts everyone at one time or another.. Smile
the bring a trailer web site allows 5 minutes to edit a post..

another past car i owned (for a weekend.. my father bought it for me and after he sobered up, back it went) was a '48 packard convertible.. big heavy beast, flat head straight 8 with hydraulic windows and top and stick transmission..
sometime about 1955, i was about 16 or 17..

can you post pix here..? i don't allow pix on my forum.. storage costs would exceed my ability to keep the place going..

this forum sure looks like phpBB..
