Subject: 1992 Roadmaster - $3,000 Sat Apr 08, 2023 9:29 am
I’ve been the shepherd of this 1992 Roadmaster for the last 9 years and it’s time to move on. Overall it’s likely a candidate for a parts car but everything does work and it does run. It was in an accident at some point prior to my ownership and the from clip was replaced with a caprice front end. There was also some damage to the right rear rocker. Mileage is at 198,XXX.
The Good: No rust. This was a SC car and has lived in NC for the last 9 years. AC works Heat works Climate control works All power windows work, although slowly and one may be slightly off track All power seats work Keyless entry works New motor mounts installed spring of 2022 New tie rods and steering components installed spring of 2022. No major rips in upholstery Rear glass pop works. Fuel pump replaced in 2016 and access hole cut in the floor for future access.
The Bad Headliner has some tears, particularly over the cargo area. Some interior plastics are missing in the cargo area. Carpet is stained in places. It was used to haul junk prior to my ownership and it shows. Intake manifold is leaking coolant. I have the parts to fix it and will include them but I just don’t have the time at this point. Paint is a cheap Maaco paint job and is failing in some places. Needs an alignment. Tires have good tread but are 9 years old at this point.
Overall, this has been an incredibly reliable car and I hate to see her go. I’ve grappled with this decision for some time and had big plans to restore it but I just don’t have the time and we don’t use it as is anymore. I’d rather her move on to someone who will use it or give life to another B-body over rotting slowly in my driveway. Paint obviously won’t be to everyone’s liking but if you remove the Panthers decals it wouldn’t be too bad, I think. Asking $3,000 for forum members and located in Charlotte, NC.

maybe i'm not as picky as some people but that description and pics sounds like a more than decent daily driver candidate.
most of these wagons are well into the 100s or more that aren't trailer queens. the panther paint job is ... interesting....
rust free wagons are worth saving and your interior doesn't look all that bad at all... some of the examples i've seen for sale on FB and CL lately look like wrecks by comparison. also some people purposely swap to the caprice nose cuz they like the look

Yeah the paint job came about as I originally bought it to use a pseudo truck for hauling stuff. I got it home and my friends told me it would make a fantastic tailgate vehicle and, well, here we are.
I think I would make an excellent candidate as a daily I just don’t have the time and space. I’ve grappled with it for the last 3 years but I think it’s time to let her go.

I have sent you a private message. I am less than an hour from Charlotte.
Bump on this one. Getting some lowball offers out there but would much rather this go to a wagon enthusiast. At least then it’ll likely live on.

Still available. I’d let I’d go for $2,500 for a forum member. I’m also open to coordinating with a shipping company if anyone would like to ship it to them. Shipping would need to be paid for and arranged by the buyer though.

Last bump. I can’t believe it’s still here but if it’s not gone by September I’m donating it to the local community college. I hate to give it away but at least some good will come of it that way.
i've had both now and the TBI is just fine for me - not going to win any races, but that's not why I have it. Also, the dash is better imo, the door panels tend to hold up better, the TBI is super easy to work on especially for certain jobs like tune up - omg, nite and day.
The LT1s are certainly more spirited, but in this day and age you have to lose that engine too and put something else in it if you want to street race... so juvenile, lol...
maybe it's that maaco panther blue color turning off people? i don't think it's bad. Do a prayer/treatment that the right person who's been looking for this will find it soon.
I mean really, a few months back someone sold a wagon that had NO ROOF! - i think they even got 1500 for it. It was barely derby ready the way it looked.

I’m seriously flabbergasted that I can’t get $2k for a running driving car with working AC, cruise control, and keyless entry! Anyone interested has either thrown out and offer of $500 or expects it to be basically a brand new car. Even if you hate the Panthers, pull off the decals and it’ll get you from point A to B comfortably! Maybe I’m too honest and should just do what all these buy here pay here dealers do and lie (I would never!).
you really gotta wonder. down in tampa bay i regularly look to see what's on the market and there isn't much that is not complete $h#t for under 2000.

You really do have to wonder. Maybe it’s that even with a weekend of wrenching you still have a 32 year old wagon. Idk. I wish I could keep the old barge but life changes necessitate it goes one way or another.

Would buy it in a heartbeat if I didn't have one already, and my HOA were not total A holes on having multiple cars (or trailers, boats, etc.) in the driveway. Bad enough I get multiple notices about it leaking oil on the driveway.
