Hi all,

Thought i would share pics of the repaint I just had done. Local body shop. 3 coats of colour and 3 coats of clear only above the waist-line.  I had him repaint the trim also, which I had previously painted with SEM trim black, when I replaced the original sun-damaged DI-NOC with new stuff.Repaint on my '96 Unknow15

Nice freshening up!

Got to ask you, what is DI-NOC?

Tom

DI-NOC is the 3M product that is the vinyl woodgrain.  It's no longer listed as an automotive product, but is sold as an architectural covering.  (For anyone considering ordering, be aware that some is sold for interior use only; look for the exterior version - which I failed to notice when I ordered mine, although it has, nonetheless, held up pretty well.)

Did you install the vinyl yourself?

Tom

Nope. I bought the vinyl from Designtex and had a local auto-wrapper do the install.  He said the tailgate was the most difficult part, because of the depression around the license-plate mount. I removed all the old vinyl first, which was a complete PITA; if I did it again I’d stick the new stuff right over the old.
