I’ve been driving Roadmasters, either wagons or sedans, as a daily driver since 2005. What fine cars they are. I’ve “upgraded” several times upon finding one in better condition. I think the upgrade period is over as my current one is in such good shape.
I recently traveled and had to rent a car. It was a Hyundai Tuscon. I have ridiculously long legs but surprisingly the leg length was fine. For a moment it seemed as though it might be an alternative if the Roadmaster ever became too old. Sadly vision to the right with the drivers seat back and when carrying a passenger was terrible.
I got to thinking about what would be a good post Roadmaster alternative. I road with a friend i his VE Jetta. Good legroom but it sits so low. Anyway, after checking out numerous cars none measured up. Many have underpowered engines coupled to eight speed transmissions. When you need power they shift too much. Many lacked legroom. They are all too expensive.
The conclusion is that the Roadmaster is superb and anything else would be much more expensive and much less desirable. I hope that I can squeeze 10+ more years out of my wagon.

Wagons have been very good cars. But, there getting old and tired. I don't go any farther than my AAA towing coverage. The days of them being the primary car are over.

Mine is being rebuilt the way I want it and will be moving me around until I'm dead. Plenty of cars much older than these still on the roads.
That said, it will never again be a "daily" vehicle. That job currently belongs to a 2014 Silverado WT with nearly 280k on the clock and still going strong. Bought it from work last summer after sitting for a couple years after a hard collision. $1750 cash, 50 bucks less than I paid for my wagon back in 2017. A little time and money later and it looks like nothing ever happened.
When I feel like being fancy I can hop in the wife's 2024 Jetta.

My only concern is getting hit and finding body parts. I have all new running gear, including the engine, so reliability is not an issue. The car will outlive me.

Just gonna drive it till the wheels fall off, then put new wheels on it and drive it some more.

I’ve thought about buying a parts car or two and just storing them someplace so I have all the parts in the future.
Someone else can worry about it though. Since making my statement I have found a 1996 B4U sedan today and will be swapping a bunch of stuff around before finding a new owner for the wagon. I love my wagon but just don’t want to repair that damn hole in the floor, lol.
