| That's what I thought it looked like too, but the boot being hooked to it made me think twice. | |

| I use to see something like that years agoin a 69 428 cobra jet fairlane. It was a special order notchback with a C-6 on the column. In the winter you would start it and never touch the gas until thoroughly warmed up or out popped a plug from the rearmost cylinder on the passenger side.Did that with champions, autolites and even delcos. It would do the same thing with cheap oil filters. That was a mess to clean up and you could never leave the car idling by itself cause it would blow the oil filter and all the oil in a few seconds! Apparently the plug blowing out had occured since new because the inner fender on the passenger side had a bunch of dings opposite that plug.Didnt mind it though because the car ran very low 13s on cheater slicks thru the pipes letting it shift itself. That was the only car that got a little screech going from 2nd gear to drive and a big damn screech going from 1st to 2nd shifting by itself! Am I right Nick? Jim Gordon |

| you guys re close,. but,...fired the car up and it sounds like a 1 lung aircompressor,.blew the plug top 1/2 completely out,. the threads are in the head,. the nut part of the plug has rotted away,. the porcelain insulator(the whole middle of) has blown out,. i had a sedan a few years back with a 4.3, it did the same thing,. 6 plugs twisted off,.pull the front wheels off and go between the inner fenders and frame,. (might have to plasma a small notch if i remember correctly,.) takes a 1/4 square piece of carbon steel tool stock for an easy out,.ground sharp to a point, and knife edged on two sides,.drifted in tight with a hammer,. with a 36" 1/4" drive extension used backwards as a driver for the tool stock,. using a large tap handle for twist,. tap handle will wind up over a turn before the sleeve pops loose,. I,ve seen guys remove the heads to fix this problem, and you spoilt southern boys with your sawzalls have no idea,.. will take pics,.

| Same thing happened with an O2 on my old 88 Caprice 4.3. Blew the damn thing right out of the manifold. Shoved a small thread spark plug in, held in place with baling wire. Red Green fix at its best. | |

| I've run into that before, what a pain. Nipple extractors work good for removing plug parts, same principal that you (Nick) used, but your set up is probably cheaper. Have fun with that Nick.

| On my first truck I over torqued a new plug and got the same result. I tapped in a slotted screwdriver and spun it out (was a fresh plug so it wasn't seized). I was crapping a brick the whole time as I had the truck for about 48hrs at that point. Little did I know I'd blow the f'ing engine the following week.....(snapped the crank in half) | |
