I bought the 91 OCC I was talking about in the other thread, couldn't resist the price. Heres some shots of the car as it sits right now, I'll be picking up hopefully sometime this week once I get through with the DMV. 111k, cloth interior, and runs great. Needs some exhaust work, good excuse to put something on that will help it breather a little better! Needs some paint, but the interior is in excellent shape.

Yup, cloth third row. Still don't know if it has a cargo cover (forget to look each time I go there.
For the time being, my 9C1 is going to be parked at a friend's house. The front end needs a lot of work and I don't want to deal with it right now, spring project. Once I sell my truck I'll have a little space.

The inside looks great and I love the wheels too. Glad it found a home with someone that will appreciate it. 111K on a 305 is not even broken in yet. Congrats!

Sweeet!!!! So what's the VIN? I wanna know!!! last 5 digits is all I care about.
Man I thought the Radio Flyer's interior was clean (it was) that is tight!

Very respectable underside for a snow belt car too. Watch out as the rust likes to creep under the cladding....

Welcome to the Trifecta club, lol.

Another one saved Yaaay

Thanks for the warm welcome to the cruiser's club Smile , can't wait to pick it up! Now I have a little of everything between the 3 wagons. My RMW has leather, my 1A2 is vinyl, and the OCC is cloth. Now I just need something with limited seats. Heres the Compnine of the car
And Sprocket, heres the last 5 of the vin: 00426
The interior is one of the biggest selling points, its in amazing condition for the age.

Hey, look at that, built right after Thanksgiving 1990. Interesting that it's fairly base yet it has the compass mirror. Anyway, welcome to the OCC club. We should take your OCC and mine to the drag strip and see just how much slower the 305 really is. Two same colored OCC's at a track will really confuse people, lol.

wow maybe all the OCCs made in Nov 90 were Maple Red, lol.
My current one is #139 and the Radio Flyer (also Maple Red from the factory) is #868, both minted in the same month as yours. Too crazy.

Have to go dig up my compnine runs for comparison.
Wow, just checking and I see that 1 wagon was delivered with a 4.11 rear end! Wonder who got lucky on that one (test mule prolly).

Build dates on mine were 11/8/1990 and 12/3/1990 respectively.

ALL were built at Willow Run per Comp Nine.

Other little oddball things I noticed:

1 was built for Canada
1 came with Slate Grey leather
2 were made for Dairy Queen!
4 of them did NOT get General tires...
only 1200 or so came in Red exterior....most were white
about a third of them had 3.23 and posi in the the tow pack (never have seen one myself).

Well the cruiser made it home, definitely not the ride I was expecting. This car definitely has issues that need addressing. The first and most major was the engine started missing, pinging and I could not get this car out of its own way. That started a few miles into my journey. Half way through the trip that cleared up and only showed now and then. I am guessing a bad wire or something, who knows. It only does this under load.
Next is the steering. The car tracks straight and all, but if you hit a bump you can feel through the steering wheel something vibrating bad, almost losing control at times. Any ideas what that is?
And under minor annoyances, the front speakers don't work, the DS window switch only goes down, not up. And the exhaust is LOUD. Sounds like my 9C1 with its hooker mufflers on it lol.

I gotta say, when the car wasn't acting up the ride was nice, the 305 was not as bad as I thought it would be.

Check the chrome plastic switch on the window...you might have a tab broken that is not allowing the UP to work. Ive had that happen before. You can use the switches (the plastic chrome piece) from the rears of any TBI car/wagon. So their easy to pick up at the junk yard. (everyone takes the fronts but never the rears)

So not a lot of slop in the wheel when going straight? Id do a ball joint test and also wiggle the front wheels and look for loose stuff. Pitman arm could be worn. Grab it and see if it wiggles up and down. Could be a bad tie rod end too...hopefully its not a bad ball joint.

Clean your injectors and run some fuel system cleaner in it...and yeah, look at the wires too. Has the wagon sat for a while? Could be some bad gas in it too. You will find that these TBI wagons are easy to work on and CHEAP to fix Wink

Also, looking back at your pics...it seems like the front pass tire is just about bald on the outer edge. So I'd say you might have something going on up there. Check the tie rods.

Too bad I was just at the yard, had a chance to get some switches! Oh well. Hopefully this weekend I can take a look at the suspension. I did the ball joints on my RMW and it wasn't all that bad, just time consuming.
He claims the car has not been sitting long, but according to google street view it was sitting there for sale and their were leaves on the trees. Either way, the tank was almost empty and I filled it on the way home. The wires at first glance in the dark look ok (useless info). I am going to do a tune up anyways as I do with any used car I buy. The wires are not original (newer AC logo on them).
Also another minor thing is above 3k RPM, the climate control shifts to the upper vents. Must be common, Lynol said his cruiser does the same thing.

I finally looked at the cargo cover, doesn't even have mounts for it. The compact spare is actually there, complete with 2 quarts of oil (one which is leaking and dripping out the rust hole in the compartment!).

Ah, the joys of the first drive in a new used car... I think my OCC has a vac leak 'cause my cruise control shuts off over bumps, so I'm thinking that same vac leak is causing that vent shift thing. Hopefully you can get the engine trouble straightened out easily. And as brokcello mentioned, these TBI motors are easy to fix; coming from LT1's you will love that. Can't wait to see it in person!

Took it to work this morning, no engine problems at all. Still going to do a full tune up on it and hope this never happens again. Here's some shots before work. Being a 91, I was eligable to get Connecticut's Early American Vehicle plates. Thats our version of classic plates. Looks good on an Olds. Too bad they let you put these on foreign cars, its just wrong! I am probably the first to put these on a B-body, I have them on my 87 Lesabre and have seen another one those with them on it.

That's my favorite grill....love Olds, and the plate looks good.

Glad to hear it ran better. It's possible the gas in it is just really old, as you said it had been sitting there for sale for a long time. Dump some gas dry and premium fuel in it. ; )

Good luck with it. Olds are still the best looking in my opinion.

Of course the Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser is the best looking of the B body wagons, for that
matter the sedans too.Know I am going to catch hell over that statement but thats how I
feel about these wagons.

Dont think Virginia even has a "classic plate program".We go straight to Antique at 25 years.
At least I have never seen a classic VA plate but then I dont get out to often.

We have Antique plates in Texas, but you can also re-register old plates so they match the year of your car. That's popular with a lot of folks.

Fun-Fun!

Wow that cleaned up nice! Man that northern sun is alot more forgiving on the paint.

Well Florida is the license plate slut state. I think we have over 80 different plates you can get.

Anitique is 30 years and your cost is about half of a regular plate.
We also have street rod, horseless carriage and a number of others, not to mention pro sports teams, universities, and assorted other stuff. It's easy to color match your car with a plate.

The only one I ever got was the Florida Panther plate for my Jag XJS as it seemed appropriate.

I have a Special Olympics license plate.

And yeah, the Panthers suck, and Florida probably is approaching 100 license plates. One for every college in the state, all of the sports teams, there's a NASCAR plate, save the manatees, save the Florida panther, save the beaches, teachers, uhh... save the Indian River lagoon... these are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
