| I'm 55, live in Metro Detroit, I'm a decorative painter.. I create faux, french word for "false" finishes. Like gold leaf, Italian plasters, glazes, have an HVLP sprayer. In the day, at 19 my 3rd car was a 1974 red corvette, then had an '80. My old boy friend was a great 'vette mechanic. My step brother had a 1968 Doge Dart, think it had a 382 or 3 just know I handed him tools and watched the fire shoot out of the carburetor. (Poor baby, that left a mark.) I've had 4 Ford wagons, a 1977 LTD (Dumb, selling that had 65,000 miles, red on red) a 1986 Crown Vic, 1990 Crown Vic, and lastly a 1988 Mercury Colony Park. (this one just about killed me with repairs) Finally purchased a 1995 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon. what a difference, the power, pick up reminded me of my vette's the interior was heaven, like driving in a lounge chair. Why so may Fords, seemed when I would need a car..these would pop up....plus I did not understand that low miles does not necessarily reflect a great car. I'd see the BRM with high miles and say no where I should have said yes. That LTI engine sure seem's to last. The transmissions on the Fords were..... So hello all, just found a 1996 Dark red on red wagon getting it on Friday. This one I will BABY! (On Monday a young girl weaving in and out of traffic on a four lane Highway clipped the corner of a turning car and spun out directly in my path I hit her doing about 50! It was white with a red interior, 150,000 miles but in really nice shape, I am parting it out.) | |

| Hi, welcome to forum! So sorry to hear about your wagon, but it's a good thing you had a big safe car like that, or you could have been hurt bad. It's true, the LT1's are strong motors and will last a long time if they're taken care of. The transmissions when behind the LT1s don't last quite as long, but what automatic really does? I also have a '91 Country Squire, fortunatly all the electrical crap has broken and been replaced so I should be good lol. I still like my B-bodies better though! Once you get your new Roadmaster all ready, post some pics up, we'd love to see it. | |

| Welcome from beautiful, sunny Flint, Michigan!
I'm also trying to wedge myself into an art career as a painter. I do feaux flames though, as creating too many of the real ones would likely get me in trouble.

As for the other one that's being parted out, if the door panels are not cracked please drop me a line!
Again welcome!

| Was there any damage to the roof? Would it be too much to request a picture of your rack?
Seriously though, I'm probably just kidding.

| Good looking wagon Lisa! When are you going to tint the windows as that mod alone makes a huge difference in its appearance and it helps protect the interior as well! Jim Gordon |

| How much of a tint? What colors look good? Some tints I've seen are really dark, others are more of a bronze tone, what do you folks think, anyone please post pictures of their cars, and any advice on what to avoid, finally how much ball park to tint? Thanks | |

| With our old eyes dont go Limo dark because its too dark at night.Find out whats legal in Mich and take it from there. With your artistic abilities you could probably do the tinting yourself. Most places around Va are getting 180 to 200 dollars for a complete tint job. Jim Gordon |

I did 35% on all the door glass and 15% on the rear cargo area windows and rear hatch glass. REALLY helps the a/c cool the car and also really looks good in my opinion! Before Tint: After Tint: -Mike

| Before: After 35% fronts and 20% on all other windows.... I only wish I could go darker, but I have been stopped a couple of times for "tint violations", even though I am legal. The cops KNEW I was speeding, but they couldn't prove it..... so they stoop me for tint. | |

| 35 for the front doors and 20 for other side windows is the TX legal limit. For the back window, I think there's a requirement for 2 outside rear view mirrors and then you can go 0, or if it's 87 or older you can go 0, otherwise I think it's 5 or 20, they change it too much for me to remember. But 20 is enough. I did 5 on the back window of a Dodge Dynasty back in '97 and it was too dark but I lived with it. Was enough to get me a ticket when I moved back to Ohio. | |
