Scams or phonies? Empty
PostSubject: Scams or phonies?   Scams or phonies? Icon_minitimeMon Aug 29, 2011 8:14 pm

I have been getting persistant e-mails from a "bloke" in
London, England, claiming to have the part that I am looking for!

Why would someone in England have parts for a discontinued American car?
----- and what would the cost be to ship???????
I can understand Canada, because these vehicles were sold there, and a lot
are still in use there, but ENGLAND?

Please comment.

Not saying this guy is legit, bit these cars are global.

I would not be in the least trustful of the setup, particularly that it's outside the states.

Stick to known and trusted forum folk, like Fred Kiehl for parts.

The shipping from our Canadian members would have to be advantageous over Europe. At least it's the same continent.

Common sense is quite uncommon and you can quote me on that.

I've done hundreds of transactions over the web both as a seller and buyer. I've only gotten burned twice and once I think it was a legit misunderstanding but it did cost me an extra 15 bucks, the other time the due got arrested and convicted for fraud via ebay. Oh and then there was the A-hole with the 1950 CHevy wagon on ebay, but I had someone go look at it before he got a dime and he never did. get a cent from me.

Use your brain, ask lots of questions and for pictures of parts etc. The guy may be legit but if he contacts you more than twice with no response, he is full of microwaved elephant crap

The English parts scams have beeen going on for awhile, Florida is another hot spot.
It could be real but it just doesn't make sense that these guys have just about any part on the car that's been unobtanium for years, and American ones at that.
They can also mysteriously find any classic American muscle car in the U.K.?
I saw pics of a '68 GTO in England for sale on evilbay exactly like mine a few years back. Looked like the pics on my photobucket site? Looked just like my backyard in England too? Same Ohio hysterical plates too? It was on for about 5 minutes.
The car hadn't been been there as far as I know?
Maybe it was it's evil twin?

Could a member in England check the parts out?

I already did on the parts wanted blog. I'm looking for the fold down front armrest/console from a Buick or Caddy,
with the 2-piece cover, in grey, to go into my '95 Caprice wagon.
