| This was also done with a current Chevy Malibu against a 59 Impala. Using the new offset collision instead of the head on like in the clip above. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJrXViFfMGkThose old cars were made tough but crumple zones save the occupants. | |

| the issue I have with this is the fact that it was basicly a parts car, the metal was tired and the way the front seat ripped from it's attatchment points in the floor speaks volumes on the floor's true condition in that 62. Also seat belts were available in the 62 caddies so why did they not belt the crash test dummy in, the seat belt may have kept the seat from moving as much as it did.
as for the 59 chevyvs 2011 malibu test, GM made the worst X frames from 59 to 64, and you can actually see the frame bend in the middle of the X in that accident, it too was nothing more than a prettied up parts car, the cloud or rust dust that comes out of it's under side is proof that it wasn't pristine.
they should test some of GM full sized ladder framed cars vs newer cars.
How would one of our wagons fair?

| I used to look at the crashed cars lined up at the garage when I was a kid. The engines in 1960s cars would frequently enter the passenger compartment.
Do ladder frame cars even have crumple zones? Or do they just transmit the full force of the crash to the occupants?

| 94 RMW vs some POS Mitsu at 5mph in a parking lot: scuffed my vehicle!!! small crease in the stainless trim. leaking tranny fluid and rad fluid on the ground car had less than 1000 miles on it. I'll take my full perimeter boxed frame thank you. | |

| If somebody wanted to make a lot of money, design a sliding mount system for the B-body front bumper cover to fender connection so it didn't rip during fender benders. That would save a lot of headache for our cars. | |
