| I can't get into the early second gens. I know, I know, I'm a heretic, but I do not like the split bumper Camaro at all.

| I dnno,. i always thought the 3rd gen's were crap, with 4th gen's worse ,. meh 305 cid iroc any one? 5 spd rated at 300ft lbs torque? (i,m off to the boneyard to look for an s10 or a mustang for a trans for my camaro iroc race car,..)non world class and world class t5's,. meh,. .although i had a 79 trans am ws6 403 car that was easy to make quicker with it,s olds powerplant,.(bigger than chevy owners little powerplants thats why 4th gen guys are so sensitive,. kinda like tbi guys,, ) i mean tuned port,.there's another setup that just didn't quite make it into the fast cars scene,.but there are guys that love that setup,.and to this day defend it, maybe we'll get an clever wagon guy here someday that has added the dual tbi setup to his car,. hee hee,.now that was a monster,.(yawn) IROC,. International race of chumps?? never saw many of these out in the street race scene, mostly italian guys looking like john travolta from saturday night fever drove them,..unless they stuffed a big block in it,.and i can't remember ever seeing a race car with such small brakes,. i owned an 80 pontiac catalina 4dr that originally had a 5.7 olds diesel in it, i shoved in one of the 468 full roller motors i had with a t400 and some fat tube hookers..., was a riot picking on the little gino boys,.the 2:41 gears almost eliminated tire spin after 20mph or so,.but i must confess thats the car that really taught me the importance of stopping as well as going,. i suppose if you were to add a 6.0/6l90e or t56 combo to a 4thgen, it might make it kinda ok,. but i,m thinking that if you add a 6.0/6l90e/t56 to just about anything and it becomes ok,.look at ugly G8 cars, but folks love them because of the power, kinda like an ugly dodge becomes cool if it has a hemi stuffed in it,. the new camaro's look sort tof ok,. bt they really do have huge blind spots,i,m sure if i bought one i,d like it simply for its power, definitely not because it was an action figure looking back on it,. i should have invested in door pads and door handles, dash pads for gen 4's,. i,d have made a fortune,. there was a whole section of my life where i avoided the cars of that era,.i remember why now, . my opinion ok?? no malice intended towards any specific individual,. Nique . | |

Ah yes! The fine memories I have of dropping the top in my '67 GS, picking up 3-4 friends and heading down to the Jersey shore where the dime-a-dozen, gold chain-wearin' IROC-driving guidos were easy pickens at the stop lights. | |

| 1973 Trans Am.....Red on Red, SD455 and a 4spd stick. Lotto ticket dream car. LOVE THEM. SO MEAN looking!
Would also love a '78 T/A with the Pontiac 400 in it and stick, and the GM T-tops, not the leaky little Hurst/Hatches. Love the look of the '77-78...but '78 was the first year from GM T-tops. Would make mine red over black to keep the Bandit jokes down. Would also have Rally II wheels instead of the alloys. Love those Rallys.
Since we're on the bucket list, add an '88 Trans Am GTA, black over tan leather, T-tops, crosslace wheels, steering wheel radio controls, but with the stock non-digital dash.
And of course an 87-88 Iroc-Z. Red over tan, t-tops, 5-spd and TPI 305.
And lastly a '92 Z28 Collector's Edition convertible. Red on Red with black hood and deck stripes, red accented 16-inch wheels, and a stick.
I fully understand that 3rd gens were underpowered and their build quality and rust-proofing were weak, but I LOVED sitting in my buddy Matt's '87 Iroc and looking over that long hood...even if the scoop grills were fake. Ha!
Cars of my youth!

| One of my alltime favorite Camaro's is the 70 Z-28 in dark green with the white rally stripes.Had to be a 4 speed and no other options.Rich kid in high school had one and I use to drool over it.He wrapped it around a steel pole about 2 weeks after he got it.Hated that idiot. After he recovered his Pop bought him a VW.Finally a little justice. | bill no joke, as often as you change cars you should look into getting a dealer license and a dealer plate...you might save some $$$$ anually. besides, if you get that you can get into dealer only auctions. | |
