| We have a block of rooms at the La Quinta at Speedway and I-95. 59 a night w/breakfast. See ray's thread Hotel Info for details. I do know that GOFASST has a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn across the street for $79 a night. I already went to Turkey Run Home Page and registered for the show. $25 for all 3 days and up to 4 in your car. I strongly advise pre-registration, that way when we pull up to the gate en masse, we get waved through as the sticker is on the windshield already and we don't get seperated. Starting another thread on activities... On the roster so far: 1. Sprocket - Fri & Sat nite. 2. Krzdimond and son - Fri and Sat. 3. Lynol - assuming Fri and Sat 4. Fred K. - Fri and Sat. 5. Stingroo - local 6. Old Guy - camping 7. Flash Gumby - Commuting in 8. Buick Estate - Fri and Sat 9. 95Brmw -assuming Fri and Sat 10. Gwturbo - local 11. 4501 Safari - local 12. RH96SS -pending his class schedule. 13. A1A wind

| I can't be 100% for the hotel (it would depend on the price),but I'm definitely going to the show.
It would likely be me, my mom and my dad.

Last year we had just under 20 wagons if I recall (go look at the thread). About half of those were from this forum, others were from SOFASST and GOFASST.

| Alright so Sprocket has tasked me with the job of Hotel Sleuth
The Jameson Inn, where we were last year (which was pretty nice, btw) will be $77/night plus tax for our group rate. You might be able to get lucky and snag something from Hotwire, but the manager I spoke to said there was a car club who was planning to reserve a block of rooms the same weekend as us. Maybe the Cougar guys again?
There's also a new Holiday Inn on LPGA, it's closer to the speedway than the Jameson and they gave me a quote for $79/night plus tax. The hotel is only two years old, and in doing some research, is the #2 rated Daytona area hotel on Trip Advisor. He made no mention of any kind of bottleneck or worry about rooms being empty. This sounds like it might be the way to go, thus far.
I'm awaiting callbacks from 3 or 4 other hotels, and also put in a bid on the Priceline group feature (which is different from their regular service... they send your bid to the hotels and the hotels contact YOU). |

| Ramada Inn is $63/night plus tax, the Quality Inn is $60, and listed as Group Friendly. Quality Inn also offers free hot breakfast... Sounds awesome!
Both of these are less than a mile from the track. Sweet! |

| I am still hunting. I will contact them today. According to Priceline's group feature, your reservation can be as late as 7 days before the show, and you'd still get the group price.
Sounds great so far. |

| question is will 10 rooms be enough???? It is my understanding that GOFASST was still trying to put a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn together as well (about 1/4 mi from this Quality) so if they do, we have overflow options there as well but the hotel IS right across the street from the speedway. Lock us in Sting!

| FYI...from Borchers In an effort to help with hotel reservations for those planning to attend the 2012 Daytona Spring Show, I have reserved a block of 10 rooms at a rate of $79 + tax per night at the Holiday Inn Express on International Drive in Daytona Beach. I talked to Teresa Graves about the reservation and she said if we need more that 10 rooms, she can expand the number of rooms at this rate. This rate is good for Friday and Saturday night, March 30-31. Use the code "GFT" or GOFASST when calling. Teresa's phone number is 386-254-3608, but she is only there M-F. The front desk number is 386-258-6333. Lynn and I have made reservations for both Friday & Saturday night. According to www.turkeyrun.com, all car show folks get one trip around the track beginning at 2PM on Sunday afternoon at 2PM. We'll see how that works out. It's hard to figure how 3,000 or so show cars are going to do one lap and still get everyone out by 5PM. The Spring Daytona Show is no longer called the "Spring Fling". It is now the "1st Annual Spring Turkey Run. Bob Borchers | |

| I will call you to discuss further. This should NOT be a reason not to come. Every car gets a pass for 4 folks to come in, so if we decide your car doesn't make the cut, still come, and ride in with one of us....we'll scrutinize your car in the hotel parking lot! | |

Depends on the car. Go read the first post in this thread. Management has changed since last years show. If you are not sure about your car, send a photo of it to the show people and ask. A couple of people on here have sent in pics of their wagons and were told, no problem. What they don't want is infield to look like a Wal-mart parking lot. I would think that a clean and shiny stock wagon would pass muster, Dave's rustmaster with gaping holes in the quarter panels probably not. Again, if you have a doubt, send in a pic and print out the reply and bring with you.....

| Wow, this is stupid. The year I'm able to go and the rules force me out! My wagon is stock, and that's how I like it. I know many of the long haulers will agree that their not driving 1,000 miles in their wagon only to park it in the lot outside and walk in to a car show with no wagons... | |

Bingo. For my car to even be considered by the sound of things I'd have to get all the bodywork done before March, not happening... So much for FL.

Lynol - your car is clean enough stock (OCC I"m guessing) and shines up nice, Cadet you have alot of mods in the interior. Look at OldGuys car, they told him it's fime. doesn't look all that custom to me?
Send them a photo and see what they say is all we can do at this point.
Up until a week or so ago, we ALL (two impala clubs and us) figured we'd be in with the club status..... Then the rules of the game changed, lack of communication,, and pretty much everyone go caught with their pants down so to speak. I'm wide open for suggestions, here.
I'd hate to see people bail, but at the same time, I'd hate even more for someone to drive 1000 miles to get turned away at the gate.
Right now I'm into the show for a whopping 25 bucks. If everyone still wants to come and blow off the show in the Speedway and go take over a park for a day, there are a few REALLY nice places in the area. That's cool, I'm good with that and can do the show on Sunday for a little while. I'm trying to change my training schedule so I can be in Daytona by Friday morning.
Discuss further. Ray scored us a La Quinta Inn right off of I95 by the Speedway for 60 bucks a night with hot waffle/continental b-fast. (10 rooms).
If you have not been to a ridiculously large car show before it IS worth checking out. I mean WE can all get together hang out, get wagony, etc etc, AND go to a world class car show.

However, the show IS downright awesome. Last year there was no way to see it all. It just couldn't be done. |

Yeah but this isn't the same show. Will there even be as many cars? The one SS club from last year isn't going and I imagine with these new rules a bunch more people with nice looking stock cars will be forced to not go. Think they'll allow in my hooptie '75 LeSabre rags top? It should fit into the "custom" category... it's a LeSabre Custom, and the body was customized by mother nature and some fool with a can of Bondo. It's almost modern art.

| There should be no reason that any of us can't get our wagons registered in the show to take inside the track. I sent my registration in yesterday. All I did was print a picture of my wagon on regular paper in black and white and faxed it with my reg. form. They called today to say it was no problem, so I am registered to get in the track. I think they make those rules for Caviliers, Camry, and Accords and such. I don't believe any of our wagons would be turned down. It's a pretty simple process. If you aren't sure just send it in and see what happens. Glenn | |

| I haven't signed up yet, but that's because I may be taking a different wagon. Totally stock but in mint condition, I'll send them pics and see what they say... I see in their rules they say they're trying to keep the "grocery getters" out of the show. That's pretty much what our wagons are stock... | |

As far as I know:
Me, two parents, two friends John M. Rob K. (and son?) Rob H. Fred K. Dave P. Glenn W. Richard S.
So that's 12 people, and 6 rooms (I still need to reserve my two).
